We are looking for a Maintenance Mechanic / Technician 2nd Shift
Job Type: Full-time, hourly position with overtime opportunity

TITLE: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN / Second Shift 3:30 PM to 2 AM
DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the maintenance and repairs to all assigned tasks associated with plant stationary equipment, rolling equipment including all plant building maintenance, and plant utility maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Necessary emergency repairs to all stationary and moving equipment to minimize production disruption.
- Insist on safe work habits.
- Perform repairs, maintenance and/or preventative maintenance as required in various areas from written maintenance requests and/or direction from leadership.
- Communicating any observed potential machine or part failures to the maintenance supervisor for corrective actions.
- Analyze equipment malfunctions, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose machinery problems and make corrective repairs.
- Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts to make repairs and properly reassemble and test for success of repairs.
- Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
- Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters, pressure gauges and other testing devices as needed.
- Troubleshoot, install, repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment, to include but not limited to: hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors and motor starters, gearboxes, conveying systems, valves, photo eyes, switches, chains, level controls.
- Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
- As applicable refer to manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.
- Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment. We can train if necessary.
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment (planned and unplanned maintenance activities).
- Respond to production issues due to equipment malfunction and quickly resolve.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records, work orders and task records.
- Accurately input and record planned and unplanned activities as well as PMs into our maintenance records.
- Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures.
- Comply with federal, state and local safety regulations.
- Follow guidelines to produce a safe and quality product.
- Adhere to the Phillips Angelica Forest Product’s code of ethics and actively apply the intended integrity.
- Work together professionally in a team environment with coworkers and other department personnel.

You are best suited for the role if you have…
- Ability to trouble-shoot mechanical, hydraulic systems and pneumatic equipment.
- Electrical “safety” knowledge and some minor electrical trouble shooting skills with ability to change out and reconnect 3 Phase 480 VAC motors in addition to mechanical skills. We will train as necessary.
- Self-motivated, detail–oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated work history.
- Some sawmill work experience and familiarity is helpful, but not mandatory.
HOUSEKEEPING:
- All facilities to be maintained clean, neat, and orderly.
- All work areas to be picked up and cleaned when work is completed or at end of shift.
- Lubricants are to be treated as potential contaminants. Oil lubricant is to be used in a controlled manner.
- Spillages and leaks are to receive immediate attention. Contaminants to be cleaned up by using sawdust to soak up. Soaked sawdust to be disposed of properly.
- Aquifer and site water runoff is to be protected and guarded at all times.
PREVENTATIVE and PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
- Key function is to minimize production downtime.
- PM is not only a “Grease and Oil” program, it includes careful inspection of the equipment components to ensure reliability during production hours.
- The successful PM program requires good documentation. Complete coverage of supplied checklist of inspection items is necessary to ensure that no component is overlooked.
REPORTS TO:
- Maintenance Supervisor, but also takes direction from area supervisors as required when working in their area of responsibility.
SAFETY:
- Utilization of proper and safe procedure to accomplish maintenance tasks without risk of personal injury or equipment damage.
- Lockout/Tagout- To embrace the LOTO safety program set up to protect yourself and employees.
- Welding Arc flash training.
- Hot work permits properly prepared along with having fire extinguishing equipment set up as required before starting any torching, welding or grinding.
