Ascent Insurance Solutions | Aurora, CO | In-office position
Ascent Insurance Solutions is a boutique commercial insurance agency based in Aurora, Colorado. We specialize in workers’ compensation, commercial insurance, safety, and risk management for small to mid-sized businesses, contractors, service providers, and public sector organizations.
We are growing and looking for a licensed Property & Casualty insurance professional who wants to build a real commercial insurance career.
This role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years of P&C insurance experience who is comfortable talking with business owners, quoting accounts, following up, and developing opportunities. You do not need to be a seasoned commercial producer yet, but you do need to be licensed, coachable, confident, organized, and ready to work.
For the right person, it is designed to grow into a niche commercial producer role over time.
About Ascent
We are not a call center. We are not a giant corporate agency. We do not offshore our service, outsource our client relationships, or hide behind bots.
We are a small, close-knit agency that uses technology behind the scenes to stay organized, move quickly, and serve clients well.
Our client experience is built around personal service, real conversations, fast certificate turnaround, clear communication, and support with the insurance and risk issues that affect their business.
Our retention is strong because we take care of clients. We answer the phone. We follow through. We help business owners understand their coverage, their total cost of risk, their audits, their claims process, and the issues that can affect their bottom line.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will help develop, quote, and convert commercial insurance opportunities, including new quotes, renewal review opportunities, and broker-of-record opportunities where a business leader is looking for stronger service, better communication, or a more hands-on agency relationship.
- Making outbound calls to prospective commercial insurance clients
- Following up with leads, incoming opportunities, and renewal review opportunities
- Working agency-provided opportunities from networking, referrals, incoming calls, and existing prospect lists
- Qualifying prospects to determine fit, timing, coverage needs, and document readiness
- Gathering information needed to quote commercial insurance
- Quoting workers’ compensation and small commercial accounts
- Identifying new quote, renewal review, and appropriate broker-of-record opportunities based on prospect needs and fit
- Learning carrier appetite and market placement strategy
- Preparing submissions for carrier review
- Helping present quotes and coverage options
- Following up consistently until the opportunity is closed, declined, or moved to a future date
- Maintaining accurate notes, activities, and follow-up tasks in agency systems
- Supporting cross-sell and account rounding opportunities
- Learning how to identify niche opportunities and build a focused commercial book over time
You will have access to a large lead database, agency-generated opportunities, incoming calls, strong carrier options, agency support, and training. The right person will bring the activity, follow-through, and drive to turn those opportunities into results.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running with the basic insurance knowledge and strong communication skills. We can teach the rest.
The right person has:
- 1-2 years of licensed Property & Casualty insurance experience
- An active Colorado P&C license
- Comfort making outbound calls and starting conversations
- Strong verbal communication skills and a natural ability to connect with people
- Confidence speaking with business owners
- Basic understanding of insurance quoting and client follow-up
- Curiosity about commercial insurance and workers’ compensation
- Strong organization and follow-through
- Ability to learn quickly and take coaching
- A professional, upbeat, and direct communication style
- Enough sales drive to pursue opportunities without being chased
Commercial insurance experience is helpful, but we are open to someone coming from a captive agency, personal lines, or mixed insurance background if they have the right mindset and want to develop their career in commercial insurance.
This Role May Be a Great Fit If You:
- Like talking to people and can keep a conversation moving
- Want to move beyond personal lines or captive agency limitations
- Are interested in business insurance, workers’ compensation, and risk management
- Want a path to becoming a commercial producer
- Can balance sales activity with accuracy and follow-through
- Are motivated by growth, production, and long-term opportunity
- Want to be part of a small agency where your effort matters and growth is tied to performance
This Role Is Not For You If:
- You are looking for a clock-in, clock-out job with no production expectations
- You are uncomfortable making outbound calls
- You need constant supervision to stay on task
- You want big-corporate structure, layers, and politics
- You avoid follow-up or let good opportunities go cold
- You are not comfortable being measured on activity, quality, and results
- You want a producer title without doing the producer work
- You are looking for a company to adopt you instead of a place to grow
We provide training, support, tools, carrier access, and opportunity. The right person will be ready to use those resources and do the work.
Compensation
This position is structured as hourly base pay plus performance-based commission and bonus opportunities.
Expected first-year compensation range is $50,000-$75,000+, based on experience, activity level, source of business, and actual production. Higher earnings are available for individuals who exceed first-year production expectations.
Base pay is expected to range from $18-$20 per hour, depending on relevant insurance sales or insurance experience.
This role includes new business commission opportunities, with additional earning potential for cross-selling Ascent’s paid services beyond brokerage. Future renewal commission eligibility may be considered after demonstrated performance, validation, and consistent account quality.
For the right person, this role can grow into a more traditional commercial producer compensation structure over time.
This is not a salary position where compensation is disconnected from activity or results. We reward production, follow-through, professionalism, and profitable agency growth.
Schedule
This is an in-office role based in Aurora, Colorado.
Core office schedule:
- Monday-Thursday: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM (with a lunch break)
- Friday: 9:00 AM-1:00 PM
While there is room for flexibility for FT/PT, the core schedule equals approximately 34 hours per week.
Additional schedule flexibility may be earned over time based on business need, production, reliability, and demonstrated performance.
