Bakery de France, is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support workplace safety and regulatory compliance across our manufacturing facilities in Frederick and Rockville, Maryland. This role is responsible for conducting safety audits, supporting OSHA compliance initiatives, delivering employee safety training, monitoring contractor safety practices, and helping maintain a safe working environment for all employees and visitors.
The position reports directly to the Health, Safety & Environmental Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Conduct daily safety audits of employees, work areas, and outside contractors.
· Identify unsafe work conditions and practices and recommend corrective actions.
· Prepare and maintain reports regarding daily activities, hazards identified, and corrective actions taken.
· Coordinate and conduct safety observations and audits to promote safe work practices.
· Provide safety training to employees, contractors, and small groups as needed.
· Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up.
· Document and communicate audit findings and safety concerns to management.
· Audit contractor training and safety compliance records.
· Support implementation of federal, state, local, and company safety programs, policies, and procedures.
· Participate in the development and implementation of Site-Specific Safety Plans.
· Review and assist with safety-related publications, reports, bulletins, and communications.
· Develop positive professional relationships while working closely with field personnel, management, and outside contractors.
· Travel regularly between Bakery de France facilities in Frederick and Rockville, Maryland.
· Support occasional weekend work, particularly during the first 12 months of employment.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
· Minimum of five (5) years of full-time safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments.
· Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry and Construction regulations.
· Strong communication and training skills with the ability to present information to individuals and groups.
· Ability to work independently and function as a motivated self-starter.
· Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills.
· Ability to maintain professionalism and build collaborative working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
· OSHA 30 General Industry certification.
· ASP, CSP, or other safety-related certifications.
· Current CPR / First Aid / AED certification.
· Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, and other applicable safety standards.
· Experience in food manufacturing or industrial production environments.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
· Ability to work in varying temperatures and around industrial bakery equipment.
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
