Full Job Description

Open Position: Buyer / Procurement Specialist

Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Monday - Friday

Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 per year (depending on experience & qualifications)

OVERVIEW:

Vyper Industrial is looking for a Buyer / Procurement Specialist to help keep our operation running at full speed. You’ll be responsible for purchasing, vendor communication, inventory replenishment, and material availability to ensure our production teams have what they need to succeed. The right candidate is extremely organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working closely with operations, warehouse, production planning, receiving, and accounting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Create, update, and manage purchase orders based on inventory levels, production needs, vendor lead times, and current demand.
Review purchase requirements to ensure correct quantities, pricing, vendors, delivery dates, and item details before orders are placed.
Follow up with vendors on order confirmations, ship dates, late orders, backorders, pricing changes, and delivery updates.
Communicate material shortages, vendor delays, and purchasing risks early so production, warehouse, and customer orders are not negatively impacted.
Work closely with operations, warehouse, receiving, and production planning to make sure materials are ordered, received, and available when needed.
Support inventory replenishment by helping maintain the right stock levels while avoiding stockouts, overbuying, and excess inventory.
Maintain accurate purchasing data in Acumatica, including vendor information, item costs, lead times, PO notes, and expected receipt dates.
Help resolve receiving discrepancies, invoice mismatches, incorrect quantities, vendor issues, and purchase order errors.
Work directly with vendors to communicate and resolve quality issues, replacement needs, and corrective actions when materials do not meet expectations.
Track and report vendor KPI performance related to on-time delivery, pricing accuracy, product quality, responsiveness, and overall reliability.
Build strong vendor relationships while helping identify alternate suppliers, cost savings, improved terms, and purchasing process improvements.
Provide clear updates to internal teams on incoming materials, delayed items, shortage risks, and purchasing priorities.
Support continuous improvement efforts related to purchasing, inventory accuracy, vendor performance,

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, procurement, inventory, supply chain, or vendor coordination.
Experience in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, ecommerce, or a similar operational environment.
Strong understanding of inventory replenishment, vendor lead times, ordering methods, shortage prevention, and cost control.
Ability to manage multiple purchase orders, vendor communications, order confirmations, backorders, and delivery updates.
Comfortable working in ERP systems; Acumatica experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, follow-up, organization, and communication with both vendors and internal teams.
Experience purchasing components, packaging, hardware, steel, imported goods, production materials, or similar products.
Ability to support vendor management, including pricing, freight, lead ti/mes, quality issues, and basic negotiation.
Comfortable using Excel or Google Sheets for tracking, reporting, and purchasing analysis.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
