Job Title: Financial Review Specialist (FRS)
Reports To: Financial Review Director

Pay Structure: Hourly
Availability: Flexible work schedule, approx. 20-30 hours per week
Travel Requirements: No travel is required.
Position Overview: The Financial Review Specialist will work within the finance team to complete resource management and procurement reviews for sponsors participating in NSLP and/or SFSP. The role will focus on conducting the management/financial portion of the USDA Administrative Review, in addition to completing the USDA Procurement Review Tool, based on supporting documentation received from School Food Authorities. The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, excellent customer service, and a deep understanding of financial principles and regulations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct a conference call with the sponsor to validate the USDA resource management offsite review questions and determine the documentation needed for the procurement review.
- Complete the USDA Resource Management Risk Indicator Tool.
- Complete the USDA Procurement Review Tool, including validation, vendor selection, and review questions.
- Identify and document technical assistance and areas of findings within the reviews.
- Communicate daily during normal business hours with assigned sponsors and review team members.
- Examine and evaluate financial operations within USDA child nutrition programs to ensure compliance with all required local, state and federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Complete all required forms and tools related to the financial areas of the Administrative Reviews with the USDA Child Nutrition Programs.
- Provide friendly, effective, and professional customer service to assist sponsors throughout the review process to ensure timely completion of all areas of review.
- Assist in designing resources, tools, and training as needed for state agencies and sponsors.
- Provide technical assistance to sponsors to aid in their understanding of program requirements and to implement effective corrective action.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a consistent work product across all areas of review.
- Utilize the office website to maintain call logs, review specifics, and communicate with sponsors from a single location.
- Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned, when appropriate.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field.
- Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations pertaining to child nutrition programs specifically the Summer Food Service Program, School Breakfast, and National School Lunch Programs.
- Ability to recognize program deficiencies and irregularities and recommend methods of correction.
- Minimum 3-5 years of prior school food service or NSLP compliance-related experience.
