About Spot Dessert Bar

Spot Dessert Bar is a destination for inventive, Asian-inspired desserts that blur the line between pastry and art. Our menu is built on bold flavor pairings, playful presentation, and a deep respect for technique. Innovation isn't a side project here — it's the core of what we do. We're looking for the next generation of pastry talent to help shape what comes next.

The Role

We're hiring a Pastry Chef — This is a hybrid creative + operational leadership role built around constant innovation. You'll be working alongside our Executive Chef, Ian Kittichai, Master Chef of Thailand to dream up, test, and launch new desserts on a regular cadence, keeping our menu fresh, surprising, and ahead of the curve. You'll also own the menu, the commissary, and the business behind it — setting creative direction while keeping inventory, recipes, and vendor relationships running profitably.

What You'll Do

Drive constant creative output — conceive, develop, and launch new desserts on an ongoing cadence (seasonal menus, monthly specials, limited drops, collaborations, and signature builds); stay obsessively current on flavor trends, techniques, and what's happening in pastry globally; treat R&D as a core part of the job, not an afterthought
Lead production — execute and refine the menu at Spot's exacting standards across breads, doughs, chocolate, frozen desserts, and plated builds, and ensure every new product can scale cleanly to service
Support catering/event orders — partner with the catering and events team to plan, produce, and execute dessert orders for private events, corporate clients, weddings, and special occasions; build catering-friendly versions of menu items and develop custom offerings as needed
Run the commissary — own inventory, par levels, production scheduling, transfers between locations, sanitation, and food safety compliance
Manage recipes and food cost — build and maintain standardized recipes with accurate yields and plate costs, monitor margins, and engineer the menu for profitability as new items roll in and old ones roll out
Own vendor and purchasing — manage supplier relationships, place orders, negotiate pricing, source specialty and hard-to-find ingredients to support new product development, and reconcile invoices to keep food costs on target

What We're Looking For

2–4 years of professional baking or pastry experience in a high-volume restaurant, bakery, hotel, or commissary operation
A track record of creating new desserts from scratch — bring examples of products you've conceived, developed, and put on a menu
Culinary or pastry school training preferred, but exceptional self-taught talent with strong references will be considered
Demonstrated technical strength in foundational pastry: doughs, batters, creams, frozen desserts, and chocolate work
Hands-on experience with inventory systems, recipe costing, and vendor ordering — or proven ability to learn fast and own these systems
Comfort with spreadsheets and inventory/recipe software (MarginEdge, Toast, or similar a plus)
