Digital Sound Systems Inc. (DSS, Inc.) provides support for live entertainment across North America. We are a technology provider specializing in concerts and corporate entertainment technology including sound, lighting, video, LED, and fabrication for all types of events. Summary:

Translates a Lighting Designer's creative vision into technical reality, programming and operating complex lighting consoles for shows, concerts, and events, creating cues, effects, and seamless transitions, requiring deep knowledge of DMX, control systems, and troubleshooting to ensure dynamic, engaging visual experiences across live productions and installations.

Key Responsibilities

Programming: Coding intricate lighting cues, color changes, movement, and timing into consoles.
Collaboration: Working closely with Lighting Designers, Directors, and other crew to achieve the show's aesthetic.
Operation: Running the lighting board during rehearsals and live shows, making real-time adjustments.
Technical Setup: Configuring lighting systems, patching, connecting, and troubleshooting equipment.
Maintenance: Monitoring and evaluating equipment, advising on needs, and ensuring system reliability.
Documentation: Creating and maintaining show files and control standards.

Essential Skills & Knowledge

Consoles: Expertise in major systems like GrandMA, Avolites, Hog4.
Protocols: Strong understanding of DMX, sACN, and network configurations.
Equipment: Familiarity with intelligent fixtures, LEDs, and other lighting gear.
Problem-Solving: Ability to fix technical issues quickly under pressure.
Creativity: Technical precision combined with creative interpretation.

Education / Experience:

· High School diploma or equivalent

· 3-5 years prior experience with Theatrical and moving lights

· Microsoft Office software

· Vectorworks 2015-2018 and associated Cad based software

· Knowledge of FLEX Rental Solutions software, helpful but not required

· Knowledge of CAD design, helpful

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to travel between show sites nationwide.

· Must be flexible to alternate between daytime, nighttime and weekend hours, based on event schedules.

· Performing General Physical Activities - requires considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials

· Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment – Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles, or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts or passenger vehicles.

· Ability to lift 85lbs

Personal Protective Equipment:

· Rigging Harnesses, hard hats, safety vests

Condition of Employment:

· Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license for company insurance purposes. CDL preferred but will consider Class C for Kansas and Class E for Missouri.

· Must submit to pre-employment and random drug testing
