Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with meal consumption as needed.
- Utilize patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques to ensure safe movement of residents.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a positive environment that promotes dignity and independence.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and communicate effectively with team members about resident needs.
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings.
- Strong knowledge of patient observation, monitoring vital signs, and recognizing signs of distress or deterioration.
- Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental or developmental disabilities.
- Ability to assist with ADLs using appropriate patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and documentation of care activities.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of resident information.
- Ability to perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and meal preparation in accordance with health standards.
- CPR and First Aid certification are highly desirable to respond effectively during emergencies.
