Position Summary
We seek a sophisticated Of Counsel attorney with over eight years of experience and a portable client portfolio to lead specialized regulatory matters. This role is designed for a self-starter who values autonomy and can manage complex client issues end-to-end with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will provide practical, commercially-grounded guidance that bridges the gap between scientific innovation and rigid federal requirements.
Core Responsibilities
Regulatory Counseling and Compliance
- Manage niche regulatory counseling for cosmetics, food, and dietary supplement portfolios
- Review product labels, claims, and advertising for FDA and FTC compliance
- Assess marketing risks across websites, social media, and influencer collaborations
- Evaluate alignment with NAD and Lanham Act standards for competitive claims
- Convert technical and scientific data into defensible legal and regulatory advice
Operational and Strategic Management
- Lead client matters from inception to resolution with high levels of autonomy
- Prepare clients for FDA inspections and manage post-inspection inquiries or remediation
- Monitor evolving FDA guidance and state-level trends, including MoCRA and CBD
- Manage an existing portable book while integrating into firm-wide strategic goals
- Collaborate with the Founder on cross-practice initiatives and high-stakes projects
Team and Client Collaboration
- Maintain productive, professional relationships with long-term firm clients and stakeholders
- Provide high-level mentorship to junior staff and support firm-wide academic rigor
- Contribute to a supportive office environment through onsite presence and participation
- Support business development efforts to scale the firm’s niche practice areas
- Ensure all billable activities meet the firm's standards for efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
The following qualifications are essential for success in this role and represent the minimum requirements for consideration.
- Possession of a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Over eight years of experience specializing in FDA regulatory and compliance law
- Mastery of FDA, FTC, and NAD compliance standards for consumer products
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following skills and experiences will distinguish top-tier candidates during the selection process.
- Previous experience within a Big Law environment coupled with a boutique mindset
- A portable book of business representing approximately 40% of total capacity
- Specialized expertise in CBD, hemp, or emerging state-level regulatory trends
- Proficiency with promotional review workflow software and adverse event reporting systems
- Experience establishing safety substantiation protocols for the cosmetics industry
Work Environment and Schedule
- Work is primarily performed onsite at our professional office in Atlanta, Georgia
- Standard business hours are expected with flexibility for client and travel needs
- Collaboration occurs through direct interaction with the Founder and support staff
- Travel may be required for client site visits or regulatory inspections
