Full Job Description

GF Hotels & Resorts is looking for a career-minded Tax Specialist for our rapidly growing company. This position is ideal for a candidate who is looking to be part of a motivated, fun, and professional working environment. This role will handle sales and use tax compliance, and the preparation of monthly sales/use and special tax returns, which involves gathering information from various data sources, then preparing and validating a high volume of sales tax returns. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to multitask, a willingness to learn, and be passionate about contributing to the accounting team.

Responsibilities:

Timely preparation, filing, and processing of payments for state, local, and special tax returns, as assigned
Answer basic sales tax questions for various business units with limited assistance
Assist the Tax Manager with the sales and use tax audit defense in a timely manner by communicating with auditors, performing tax research, completing audit schedules, providing relevant supporting documentation, coordinating document requests and communications with the field and other departments
Complete basic local sales tax registrations without assistance, complex local registrations with assistance
Prepare tax JE's and reconcile monthly tax accrual accounts
Review monthly exemption compliance
Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Communicate directly with states and local agencies
Communicate with internal and external customers
Assist with other projects as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Must be analytical and detail-oriented
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
Ability to work under pressure with short deadlines
Experience with M3 general ledger preferred
Proficient use of technology, including Microsoft Office
Experience working with multi-state taxes for multiple outlets simultaneously is a plus
Hotel transactional tax experience preferred
