GoPath Laboratories is a physician-owned pathology diagnostic laboratory dedicated to delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality pathology services. As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable (A/R) Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team.

Position Summary
The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for the timely follow-up and resolution of outstanding insurance claims and accounts receivable balances. This position plays a key role in maximizing reimbursement, reducing aging accounts, and ensuring compliance with payer requirements and company standards.
Essential Responsibilities
- Review and resolve assigned accounts receivable worklists with a focus on insurance claim follow-up and denial management.
- Investigate denied or underpaid claims by reviewing account history, medical documentation, coding, and payer requirements.
- Research payer policies and identify coding, billing, or contractual discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit corrected claims, appeals, and supporting documentation to insurance carriers.
- Follow claims through final adjudication to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Communicate denial trends, root causes, and resolution strategies to management.
- Utilize insurance payer portals to verify claim status, submit appeals, and obtain claim information.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all account activities within the practice management system.
- Collaborate with billing, coding, customer service, and laboratory teams to resolve complex reimbursement issues.
- Meet productivity, quality, and collection goals while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Perform additional revenue cycle and accounts receivable duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare accounts receivable, medical billing, or insurance follow-up experience.
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, and other payer guidelines.
- Experience working insurance claim denials, appeals, and reimbursement issues.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and healthcare billing software.
Preferred
- Experience with Kareo/Tebra Practice Management software.
- Experience using payer portals such as Availity, Optum, Medicare, Evicore, and similar systems.
- Knowledge of pathology, laboratory, or specialty physician billing.
- CPC, CPB, or other medical billing certification is a plus.
