Full Job Description

The Paramedic provides emergency medical support to deployed personnel and, when authorized, other individuals at OCONUS natural-disaster sites. This role performs triage, basic or advanced emergency care, patient assessment, transport support, documentation, and coordination with local or contracted medical resources.

The ideal candidate is calm, clinically capable, and prepared to work in a remote, high-heat, high-tempo environment where medical resources may be limited. The role requires sound judgment, clear documentation, and strict compliance with scope-of-practice, medical direction, and site-safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Emergency Care: Provide basic or advanced emergency medical care within current certification, scope of practice, medical direction, and applicable protocols.
• Triage & Assessment: Assess patients, prioritize care needs, initiate appropriate interventions, and coordinate escalation or transport when needed.
• Medical Documentation: Maintain accurate patient-care reports, incident documentation, medical logs, supply records, and required confidentiality controls.
• Medical Readiness: Inspect and maintain assigned medical kits, equipment, PPE, medications, and supplies; identify shortages and replacement needs.
• Site Coordination: Coordinate with safety, security, management, and external medical resources during incidents, evacuations, and emergency-response activities.
• Health & Safety Support: Participate in safety briefings, heat-illness prevention, hydration, and other site-health initiatives as directed.

Required Qualifications
• Citizenship & Passport: U.S. citizenship and a current, valid U.S. passport are required for this position. Candidates must be able to meet applicable overseas entry, travel, credentialing, and client requirements.
• Current Certification: Current Paramedic certification/licensure through a U.S. state, territory, or nationally recognized registry is required; candidate must be able to meet client or local credentialing requirements.
• Clinical Readiness: Current CPR/BLS certification is required; ACLS, PHTLS, or equivalent may be required based on role level and assignment.
• Emergency Experience: At least 2 years of emergency medical, ambulance, military medical, emergency-response, or comparable patient-care experience is required.
• Documentation & Judgment: Ability to make sound field decisions, communicate clearly, and complete accurate medical documentation in time-sensitive situations.

Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced Care: Current paramedic certification, ACLS, PALS, ITLS/PHTLS, tactical EMS, wilderness medicine, or occupational-health experience is preferred.
• Remote Operations: Experience supporting remote worksites, disaster response, base camps, industrial operations, or OCONUS assignments is preferred.
• Spanish Language Skills: Bilingual Spanish/English communication skills are a plus.
• Deployment Experience: Prior experience supporting disaster response, remote worksites, austere environments, or OCONUS assignments is preferred.

Work Environment
• Citizenship & Passport: Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a current, valid U.S. passport. Ability to meet applicable entry, travel, credentialing, and client requirements for overseas assignments is required.
• Deployment Flexibility: Must be willing and able to deploy OCONUS or to other assigned disaster-response locations based on operational need. Geographic location and deployment duration may vary by assignment.
• Schedule Readiness: Must be available to work 12-hour shifts, 7 days per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays, for the duration of the assigned deployment as operational needs require.
• Deployment Environment: This is a field-based disaster deployment role that may require work in high heat, humidity, tropical conditions, heavy rain, and rapidly changing operational environments.
• Site Hazards: Personnel may encounter damaged or unsteady buildings, uneven terrain, debris, heavy equipment, limited infrastructure, and potentially dangerous wildlife. Employees must follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and site-access controls.
• Physical & Travel Requirements: The role requires the ability to travel independently and safely perform job-related duties in demanding field conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Variable Deployment: Assignments may be short- or long-term and may require relocation, extended time away from home, and flexibility in work location, schedule, and living conditions.
• Screening Requirements: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of applicable background, identity, work authorization, drug screening, credential verification, and contract-specific requirements.
