MARS is the largest outpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility in the Lehigh Valley, and our agency is growing. The philosophy of MARS-ATP is that addiction is a disease. We are proud of the work, treatment, and care we provide our clients and are looking for a candidate who will fit in with our culture at MARS to provide exceptional care and attention to our clients, our agency, and to our community.We are seeking a Part Time drug and alcohol assessor for our Hospital Opioid Support Team (HOST). Shifts that need staffing:

Part-time: Sat & Sun 3pm-11pm

The HOST Program provides services to individuals diagnosed with Substance Use Disorders in Lehigh County hospitals. The ideal candidate will be flexible, able to work with other staff to effectively meet the needs of the patient while maintaining a positive relationship with patients and referral sources. MARS-ATP is proud to serve a diverse population and we are seeking a candidate that demonstrates excellent cultural competency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

After receiving the initial referral, contact the patient with in 30minutes to complete a drug and alcohol assessment. Demonstrate strong communication skills and develop rapport with patients.-Provide substance use assessments that assess the patient’s needs, determine appropriate level of care based on placement criteria established by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), complete accurate ASAMs for the appropriate level of care recommended, and complete written BioPsychoSocial within 48hrs of initial assessment.
Conduct Bed Searched and facilitate placement for patients, while coordinating with the appropriate hospitals/staff
Maintain patient record with accurate and complete paperwork, filing all patient correspondence, and performing chart maintenance in accordance with established regulations, policies, procedures, and supervisory review.
Abide by regulatory compliance, local, state and federal laws including HIPPA and 42 CFR. Obtain informed consent and releases of information for coordination of care with outside agencies and family members.
Coordinate continuum of care activities for individuals seeking recovery from a Substance Use Disorder, provide access to available drug and alcohol and ancillaryservices, and ensureoptimum utilization of resources and, compliance with externalagencies and referral source requirements.
Facilitate appropriate funding arrangements to clients by verifying benefits, using systems such as Availity, NaviNet and PROMISe.Knowledge of funding sources such as Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial/Private insurance. Acquire pre-authorizations from Single-County Authorities (SCA) when necessary.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or Human Services (required)
Master’s Degree (preferred)

Experience:

6 months drug and alcohol field experience (required)
6mo Experience completing ASAMs for all levels of care (required)
6mo experience completing Drug and alcohol assessments/evaluations (required)
