Full Job Description

We are hiring a Tax Accountant (CPA or EA) to handle a wide range of hands-on tax responsibilities for individuals and small businesses. This role centers on preparing and filing 1040 and 1120-S returns, managing tax projections, calculating estimated tax payments, and resolving IRS and state tax notices on behalf of clients. You will serve as a primary tax resource throughout the year, engaging with clients in moderate, purpose-driven interactions such as providing estimates, resolving notices, and offering tax planning support.

Although this position does not involve review work initially, there will be opportunities to expand into review responsibilities as the firm grows. Our firm places a strong emphasis on responsiveness, ensuring clients receive timely, clear communication and a higher level of service than they’ve experienced elsewhere.

Compensation & Benefits:

Base salary: $90,000-$95,000
401(k) employer match: 100% of first 3% + 50% of the next 2% (effective 4% match)

100% covered: CPE credits, CPA or EA license renewal fees, and AICPA membership
$300/month Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)

Responsibilities:

Prepare and file individual (1040) and S-corporation (1120-S) tax returns
Manage client workloads and deadlines with minimal supervision
Conduct tax planning, prepare tax liability projections, and prepare quarterly estimated tax calculations
Resolve IRS and state notices and support clients through tax authority interactions
Assist with payroll advisory for clients
Communicate with clients throughout the year for targeted tax needs

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
Master’s in Taxation (preferred)

Certifications:

Active CPA or EA license (required)

Required Experience:

3+ years of hands-on tax preparation experience
Experience resolving federal and state tax notices
Experience managing payroll for clients
Strong understanding of federal tax law for individuals and small businesses
Strong understanding of various retirement accounts such as 401k, IRAs, defined benefit plans, etc.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently
High attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Experience:

Experience preparing returns for high-net-worth individuals
Experience with 1120-S returns for small businesses
Familiarity with tax planning and advisory work
Prior experience in client-facing (remote) interactions on tax-related matters

Software Skills:

Required:
