Shift schedule :
(4-10 hour days) will be on a Saturday 7 am - 5pm
Example Monday, Tuesday and Friday, Saturday (4x10) each shift will have their own days
Position Summary:
This role is based at our Protein Diagnostics Division in Benson, VT, which specializes in the production of polyclonal antibodies, primarily in sheep. We currently have a full-time, 40-hour position available for an Animal Laboratory Technician on our busy USDA registered sheep farm and laboratory.

The full-time Animal Laboratory Technician is responsible for providing high quality antisera, ensuring all procedural work is carried out/delivered in line with the company's supply and operation process. This includes production and any research and development and design control requirements, while adhering to the quality policy and other relevant regulatory and governing bodies and company policies.

A Day in the Life:
- Collection of blood by plasmapheresis
- Completion of relevant records
- Weekly animal sorting for production activities
- Care for and ensure the welfare of animals including but not limited to feeding, watering, bedding, and routine mucking

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Education
Experience - Having sense of animal behaviors – Exposure to animal jobs
- Working on a farm and/or with livestock
- Working within a laboratory environment
- Working within a Veterinary environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Valid driver’s license - Potential to be driving farm vehicles: Mules(side-by-side), tractors (depending on experience) other farm vehicles
- Able to communicate at all levels
- Excellent communication and organization skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workloads
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Excellent attention to detail
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and understand biological/zoonotic hygiene. – Site will provide
- Able to handle large animals – Sheep (up to 200 lbs)
- Essential functions may require lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
- Dependability, reliability, and comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Must be flexible due to the unpredictable nature of working with animals and on a farm
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling
- Reaching, twisting, turning
- Walk on uneven, wet, slippery surfaces
- Must be willing to work weekends
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Experience:
- Animal handling: 2 years (Required)
