Project Manager (Contract – Hybrid)

Ion Computer Systems is seeking a Project Manager for a 6+ month contract assignment supporting Northwell Health with a large-scale healthcare IT deployment across the Tri-State Area, with a primary focus on Long Island and New York City. This hybrid role requires a balance of remote work and on-site travel to various healthcare locations. The Project Manager will play a critical role in leading site assessments, coordinating infrastructure and deployment activities, and ensuring successful execution of go-live events. This individual will be responsible for managing resources, timelines, vendor coordination, and stakeholder communications, while driving project outcomes in a fast-paced, mission-critical healthcare environment. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with prior experience managing IT projects—preferably within healthcare—and the ability to proactively mitigate risks and deliver results on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site assessments across multiple patient collection locations to define infrastructure and operational requirements
- Partner with IT leadership to evaluate network needs, including cabling and connectivity requirements
- Analyze current workflows and recommend improvements to drive standardization and efficiency
- Support development of training plans and materials for new systems and processes
- Participate in technical design sessions and contribute to solution planning
- Serve as onsite lead during go-live events, ensuring smooth execution and rapid issue resolution
- Coordinate command center setup and logistics for deployments and go-lives
- Manage procurement of equipment, supplies, and vendor services
- Oversee vendor relationships, including selection, contracting, and invoice management
- Lead deployment activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Communicate project updates, risks, and milestones to stakeholders and leadership
- Manage project plans, resources, schedules, and priorities end-to-end
- Track progress and provide regular status reporting
- Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure successful project execution
- Promote a team-oriented environment focused on achieving project goals
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or a related field
- 5+ years of IT project management experience (healthcare preferred)
- Revenue Cycle experience a plus
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to travel throughout the Tri-State Area (valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required)
- Must be locally based and able to work in a hybrid (remote + onsite) environment
