Nurse Paralegal - Personal Injury (plaintiff)

Job Description:

Distasio Law Firm, a client-focused plaintiff's personal injury law firm, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Nurse Paralegal to join our team. This unique role requires a blend of clinical nursing knowledge and a willingness to help manage complex personal injury cases, primarily focusing on nursing home abuse and medical malpractice. The ideal candidate will leverage their clinical background to efficiently analyze and manage the medical aspects of our cases from inception through trial.

As a Nurse Paralegal, you will be responsible for managing a dedicated caseload, with duties including, but not limited to:

Medical Case Analysis & Management:

Order and follow-up to get medical records
Read, interpret, organize, and summarize extensive medical records and defense document to identify key issues, deviations from the standard of care, and resulting injuries.
Investigate, gather, organize, and analyze information relevant to the client's case.
Serve as the primary liaison for obtaining and interacting with medical experts, assisting with their preparation for depositions and trial.

Litigation & Discovery:

Assist attorneys in drafting discovery requests and reviewing client discovery responses.
Monitor and ensure all discovery propounded on the defendant is received.
Prepare, organize, and manage materials for Motions and discovery memorandums.

Case Progression & Trial Preparation:

Interview key witnesses.
Prepare comprehensive pre-mediation and pre-trial materials.
Assist in preparing the case for trial, including exhibit and witness management.
Attend trial and assist with the preparation of materials such as opening statements, witness outlines, and closing statements.

Communication:

Maintain professional and empathetic communication with clients, as well as regular interaction with experts, defense counsel, and medical providers.

Skills & Attributes:

Clinical Background: Current or former Registered Nurse (RN) license preferred. Significant experience and demonstrated expertise in medical record review and analysis are required.
Exceptional writing skills are essential for drafting pleadings, motions, and comprehensive medical summaries.
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize numerous complex tasks and complete them under time constraints while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely, flexible, and solution-oriented manner.
Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
Exemplary tenure with previous employers is highly valued.

COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE. Average range for this position is $55,000.00-$80,000.00, based on experience.
