Full Job Description

Apricity Law, PC is a boutique transactional and litigation firm serving the Truckee/Tahoe/Reno region, licensed in California, Nevada, and Washington. We provide sophisticated, big-firm-caliber legal work with a boutique, client-centered approach across commercial real estate, business and corporate law, estate planning, trademark/IP, and litigation. We compete on responsiveness, flat-fee certainty where appropriate, dual CA/NV licensure, and a modern, technology-forward practice.

The Role

We are seeking a Litigation Associate to join our growing litigation practice, handling a docket centered on business disputes, landlord-tenant matters, and related commercial litigation across California and Nevada state and federal courts. This is an opportunity to build a meaningful practice within a small, high-trust firm where associates get real client contact, real courtroom exposure, and real ownership of matters from intake through resolution.

Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of business disputes, landlord-tenant, and general commercial litigation matters from pre-filing through resolution (motion practice, discovery, trial, and appeal as needed)
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and dispositive motion briefing
Conduct legal research and analysis across CA and NV substantive and procedural law
Appear in court for hearings, case management conferences, and (as experience allows) trials and evidentiary hearings
Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and the court; manage client expectations and case strategy
Collaborate with the firm's transactional attorneys where litigation intersects with real estate, corporate, or lease disputes
Supervise and coordinate with paralegal and legal assistant staff on case preparation and discovery management
Maintain accurate, timely billing and case management records in Clio Manage
Contribute to business development, including relationships with referral sources across the tri-market area

Qualifications

J.D. and active bar membership in California and/or Nevada (dual licensure strongly preferred; willingness to obtain reciprocal admission required)
2–5+ years of civil litigation experience, ideally including business/commercial disputes and landlord-tenant matters (unlawful detainer experience a plus)
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload independently with sound judgment on prioritization and client communication
Comfort with a lean, tech-enabled practice environment (cloud-based practice management, AI-assisted drafting and research tools)
Excellent client service instincts and professional judgment
Ability to work occasionally from courts in Nevada (Douglas County/Reno area) as matters require

Preferred

Familiarity with NRCP and Nevada state court procedure
Experience with commercial lease disputes, evictions, or real-estate-adjacent litigation
Interest in eventually developing a book of business within the tri-market
