Full Job Description

Realization Center opened its doors in 1984 and has become one of the oldest and largest programs in New York City. The center has been offering all levels of care from partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient with individual and group therapy.

Licensed by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports, we serve a wide range of clients including impaired professionals, adult and adolescent substance users, LGBTQIA+ individuals as well as dually diagnosed and HIV positive clients. Realization Center is also approved to treat mental health issues for people with a past history of substance use disorders but who are not currently struggling with an active addiction.

This position is a hybrid role. You will be working both onsite as well as remotely.

Responsibilities:

Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients struggling with substance use and abuse disorders
Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans based on client needs
Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and behavior management, client centered
Psychoeducation to clients on harm reduction as well as abstinence models of treatment
Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers and clinical counselors, and psychiatric staff to ensure comprehensive care for clients
Assist clients in developing coping skills and strategies to overcome substance use and addiction
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
Collect and maintain accurate records of client information and treatment progress
Provide education and support to clients' families regarding addiction and recovery
Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in addiction counseling
Continue education requirements needed for renewals of licensure

Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field (e.g., social work, counseling)- Required or,
CASAC will be accepted with experience
Active licensure- Required
Experience in providing addiction counseling services
Knowledge of various therapeutic approaches, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis
Familiarity with behavior management techniques for substance abuse treatment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Spanish speaking a+
Electronic medical records (EMR) experience
Recovery A+- we highly value clinicians in recovery

Experience in the following is preferred:

Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
Trauma Informed Therapy
Harm Reduction
