Full Job Description

Program Summary

The New York State Department of Health, Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC), is seeking to fill one (1) Registered Nurse position located at the Riverview Innovation Center, 150 Broadway, Suite 355, Albany, New York 12204.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break (7.5 paid hours per day). Approximately 10% travel may be required.

General Duties

Formulate investigative plans and conduct investigations related to medical misconduct.
Analyze medical records and other clinical investigative materials and provide clinical opinions as part of the investigative process.
Arrange and conduct in-person, field, or telephone interviews with complainants, attorneys, subjects of investigation, and other individuals necessary to complete investigations.
Analyze statistical and investigative data, quality assurance materials, and criminal and malpractice-related information.
Develop legal and technical background materials in support of case investigations.
Obtain, review, and evaluate documentary evidence.
Document investigative activities, interviews, telephone conversations, and findings in written reports.
Collaborate closely with investigative staff, medical coordinators, medical experts, pharmacy consultants, attorneys, and management throughout the investigative process.
Communicate with external entities, healthcare facilities, and agencies as required during investigations.
Prepare completed case reports for presentation to the Board for Professional Medical Conduct.
Draft investigative correspondence for stakeholders, licensees, complainants, and members of the public.
Perform monitor vetting, review practice monitor reports, contact pharmacies, respond to inquiries from licensees, and initiate communications as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration.
No disciplinary actions on nursing license.
Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) years of investigative experience.
Knowledge of investigative techniques and processes.
Proficiency with basic word processing and database applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Experience with the professional medical conduct process.

Pay: $65.00 - $71.00 per hour
