Full Job Description

Empire Education Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our Accounting Department. This position provides administrative and accounting support to ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. The ideal candidate is dependable, highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Process accounts payable invoices and prepare payments
Verify invoice accuracy and ensure proper approvals are obtained
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
Assist with accounts receivable functions, including posting to student accounts and maintaining records
Assist with purchasing functions, including ordering office and operational supplies as needed
Assist with monthly account reconciliations and month-end closing activities
Prepare and enter general ledger journal entries
Assist with bank reconciliations
Assist with audits by gathering and preparing requested documentation
Support Accounting Manager and CFO with special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum associate’s degree in accounting or related field required
Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Working knowledge of QuickBooks
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
