Full Job Description

About SALERRU

SALERRU is a bootstrapped consumer-to-consumer marketplace startup building technology intended to make buying and selling safer, simpler, faster, and more accountable online and in the real world. Our 12-month objective is to launch a focused marketplace with the core workflow completeness, reliability, trust, accessibility, and usability expected of modern platforms while creating a distinct SALERRU product.

Required In-Person Technical Evaluation

Candidates who advance will complete a role-specific technical evaluation at SALERRU’s Brooklyn Center office. Completing the evaluation during the recruiting event is optional. Candidates may instead schedule an appointment after the event, with availability seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., subject to confirmation.

The opportunity

Own the architecture, implementation, testing, release, and post-launch stability of SALERRU's customer-facing iOS and Android applications and the supporting frontend surfaces required for administration, legal disclosures, marketing, recruiting, and customer support.

Why this role matters

In a C2C marketplace, trust is experienced through the product. Listing creation, media quality, identity signals, messaging, offers, checkout states, location-aware handoff guidance, reporting, disputes, and account recovery must feel clear and dependable on real devices and weak networks.

What you will own

Select and document the mobile implementation approach, including the shared-code strategy, native-extension strategy, navigation, state management, networking, secure local storage, coding standards, and release architecture.
Build the complete buyer and seller mobile experience: onboarding, authentication, profiles, verification states, listings, camera and photo-library workflows, media upload, browse, search, filters, saved items, messaging, offers, checkout, transaction status, ratings, reviews, reporting, disputes, refunds, notifications, and settings.
Create and maintain a reusable, accessible cross-platform component library and design-token system with Product Design.
Integrate backend APIs, authentication, marketplace payments, analytics, feature flags, crash monitoring, push notifications, deep links, device permissions, and trust-and-safety services.
Own mobile behavior across supported devices, operating-system versions, screen sizes, accessibility settings, poor connectivity, offline states, and foreground/background lifecycle transitions.
Establish unit, integration, end-to-end, device, accessibility, visual, and release testing for launch-critical journeys.
Own TestFlight, Google Play testing tracks, app signing, build automation, staged releases, store submissions, release notes, monitoring, rollback, and hot-fix procedures.
Review code, mentor future contributors, document decisions, and communicate delivery and security risks before they threaten a launch gate.

Required background

Production experience with React Native and TypeScript, Flutter/Dart, or native Swift and Kotlin, including architecture decisions for shared versus platform-specific code.
Experience shipping complex consumer applications through Apple App Store and Google Play with authentication, forms, APIs, asynchronous states, camera/media access, notifications, payments, and transactional behavior.
Strong command of accessibility, client-side security, mobile performance, testing, crash monitoring, privacy, release management, and application lifecycle behavior.
Ability to turn product and design intent into maintainable systems, not only individual screens.
Hands-on technical leadership, code review, architecture documentation, and cross-functional delivery ownership.

Preferred background

React Native with Expo/EAS or bare React Native; Next.js for supporting web surfaces.
Marketplace, e-commerce, payments, fintech, identity, messaging, trust-and-safety, or two-sided-platform experience.
Experience with Jest, React Native Testing Library, Maestro, Detox, XCUITest, Espresso, Crashlytics, Sentry, PostHog, Fastlane, or comparable tools.
Design-system ownership and close partnership with senior product designers.
Experience taking a prelaunch product through closed beta and production under constrained startup resources.

How success will be measured

iOS and Android launch-critical buyer and seller journeys are complete, reliable, instrumented, accessible, and accepted against written criteria.
No unresolved critical frontend, accessibility, privacy, or client-security defect remains at launch.
The application meets approved crash-free session, startup-time, responsiveness, API-error, and device-compatibility thresholds.
The component system is reusable and documented, and release processes are repeatable, monitored, and recoverable.
Both production applications are approved and publicly available within the 12-month program, subject to external store-review timelines.

How we work

Work directly with SALERRU's founders and the other functional leads as a hands-on founding-team contributor.
Operate with high ownership, written documentation, candid communication, disciplined prioritization, and early risk escalation.
Build for launch quality: security, accessibility, reliability, observability, maintainability, trust, and a credible customer experience are part of the product, not post-launch extras.
Use evidence, customer feedback, analytics, acceptance criteria, and explicit tradeoffs rather than unsupported assumptions.
Protect SALERRU confidential information, avoid third-party IP misuse, and assign all role-related work product to SALERRU under the final written agreements.
These are leadership titles with hands-on execution responsibility; titles do not by themselves confer officer, director, or authority-to-bind status.

Compensation and equity disclosure

The selected candidate will receive a stock-option grant, subject to approval by SALERRU's Board of Directors and the final Equity Incentive Plan and grant documents. Equity is speculative, illiquid, subject to vesting and dilution, may have tax consequences, and may ultimately have no value.
