Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is responsible for the provision of radiological procedures and services, including specific knowledge of CT, to patients according to physicians' orders. Performs predominantly CT exams and provides X-ray services as needed. They are responsible for adhering to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure patient safety. In addition, may provide clerical support for the assigned department to include, but not limited to: filing, maintaining records, answering phones, scheduling appointments and entering data into computer. The CT Technologist reinforces and adheres to the core values of the company in order to achieve the mission and vision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential Functions Statement(s):

Determine patients' CT needs by reading requests or instructions from physician and be able to explain computed tomography (CT) procedures to patients.
Operate computed tomography equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes under direction of physician.
Position patient, set up and adjust equipment to ensure appropriate placement for imaging and view of specific body area as requested by physician.
Monitor video display of area being scanned and adjust density or contrast to improve picture quality and be able to provide high quality images according to physicians’ orders.
Monitors the patient’s condition before and after scan to ensure patient safety and comfort.
Prepares, administers and documents, all contrast material/injection information as required by policy
Responsible for the use of patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff to ensure safety and comply with government regulations.
Perform and log required Quality Control procedures on all equipment according to standard procedures.
Maintain and establish protocols with cooperation of Radiologist.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education and Experience:

Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Sciences or equivalent
One to two years related experience
Experience with CT, MRI, Radiation treatment planning preferred

Computer Skills:

Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with PACS/RIS systems preferred
Ability to import and export diagnostic imaging records

Certificates & Licenses:

ARRT Certification in Radiologic Sciences and CT

Other Physical Requirements:

Vision (Distance, Near, Peripheral, Color)
