Full Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Answering phone calls, directing inquiries to appropriate personnel, greeting visitors, providing general information about the department.
Maintaining accurate and organized department files, including criminal records, incident reports, and arrest paperwork.
Inputting data into police database systems, including citations, arrests, traffic violations.
Providing information to citizens regarding police procedures and filing complaints.
Maintaining the privacy of sensitive information related to investigations and personnel records.
Composing and distributing letters, memos, and emails on behalf of the police chief and officers.
Prepare cases to be transferred to the appropriate agency for prosecution.
Managing calendars and handling payroll related tasks.
Maintain up to date logs and tracking forms of case files and information.
Patrol/monitor downtown parking and public lots, issue parking tickets.

QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals, including the public, officers, and other agencies via in person, phone, electronic communication, and police radio.
Strong computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet applications, and database management systems.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
Two years' clerical experience.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must pass a police background check.
Must live within 20 air miles of Borough of Blairsville.

Physical Requirements

Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and extended periods of time standing and/or walking.
Stressful situations are inherent to this position.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
