Full Job Description

Pediatric Post-Doctoral Fellowship

Primary Care Psychology Associates (PCPA) is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our growing interdisciplinary team within a pediatric primary care setting and outpatient setting. We currently have multiple openings with opportunities to work from our Vernon Hills and Highland Park offices, with the option to add one day per week in our downtown Chicago location. This position is currently hybrid, combining remote work with in-person services across one or more pediatric clinic sites.

PCPA is a distinctive group practice of adult and pediatric mental health professionals embedded within primary care clinics throughout the greater Chicagoland area. Our mission is to advance the integration of behavioral health and medicine by providing accessible, evidence-based psychological care across the lifespan. We pride ourselves on fostering strong collaboration among psychotherapists, primary care physicians, and specialty medical providers to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician passionate about pediatric integrated care and interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition to psychotherapy services, opportunities for psychological assessment and supervision are available. We are seeking clinicians who value teamwork, clinical excellence, and long-term professional growth within a supportive and collaborative practice environment.

The Pediatric Psychology Division at PCPA consists of clinicians who provide psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and consultation services to children, adolescents, and families. Post-Docs within the Pediatric Psychology track are exposed to a broad range of presenting concerns commonly seen in pediatric populations, including depression, anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), sleep difficulties, toileting concerns, behavioral challenges, and adjustment-related difficulties. Pediatric psychology post-docs have the opportunity to train 2-3 days per week within integrated primary care settings through PCPA’s partnership with Pediatrust, a large pediatric medical group in the Chicagoland area. Within these settings, trainees provide behavioral health services embedded in pediatric medical clinics. Training in this model includes participation in same-day “warm hand-offs” and behavioral health consultations during pediatric medical visits. These encounters provide trainees with direct experience in brief assessment and intervention, as well as interdisciplinary collaboration with pediatricians and medical staff. This integrated care experience supports the development of skills in rapid clinical formulation, targeted intervention, and coordination of care within a primary care environment.

Position Responsibilities

Serve as the primary liaison between Primary Care Psychology Associates and our medical partners within pediatric clinics
Provide same-day “warm handoff” services during pediatric primary care visits, including brief assessment, intervention, and treatment planning
Collaborate closely with medical providers regarding psychiatric, psychosocial, and behavioral health concerns
Deliver consultation and evidence-based short-term therapy (typically 4–12 sessions) to children and families referred by physicians
Provide longer-term psychotherapy when clinically appropriate
Conduct psychological evaluations and testing
Co-lead group supervision to interns in our APA-Accredited Internship Program

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program.
Completion of an APA-accredited internship by the start date.
Experience providing evidence-based assessment and therapy services to children and adolescents.
Strong interest in integrated behavioral health and interdisciplinary collaboration with medical providers.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative clinical environment.
Availability to work at least three evenings per week.
Access to car to commute to Pediatrust locations

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in integrated healthcare, primary care, or other interdisciplinary settings.
Experience providing brief, goal-oriented, or time-limited therapy.
Interest in clinical supervision, teaching, and professional training.
Demonstrated leadership experience and initiative.
Flexibility, adaptability, and openness to ongoing professional development.

Clinical Practice & Collaboration

Develop a caseload quickly through a consistent referral stream, with no marketing or business development responsibilities.
Collaborate with leading pediatric, primary care, and specialty medical providers throughout the Chicagoland area.
Practice within an integrated behavioral health model serving children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Work Environment & Administrative Support

Hybrid work model with a combination of remote and in-person clinical services.
