About us:

HCIRS is a Revenue Cycle Consulting firm that provides operational support to healthcare providers reducing administrative burdens, minimizing errors, ensuring compliance with commercial and governmental insurance requirements, and enhancing patient satisfaction by offering a smoother, more efficient healthcare experience.

Position Description:

Thisis a 1099 Independent Contractor position.

A 1099 “Contractor”, often referred to as an “Independent Contractor”, is a person or entity contracted to perform work for another entity as a “Non-employee”. They are called "1099 contractors" because the business for which they perform work does not typically withhold income tax, Social Security, or Medicare from payments to them. Instead, the business must report payments made to the contractor to the IRS using Form 1099-MISC if they pay them $600 or more in a fiscal year.

The suitable candidate will have:

A minimum of 2-years' experience in revenue cycle.
Understand the complexity of the healthcare industry.
Have the ability to easily transition from one project assignment to another revenue cycle experience.
Have the ability to work from home in a secure and HIPAA compliant manner
Understand the performance and productivity requirements for the project assignments.

Project Assignment:

Project assignments vary based on a client's need. The suitable Independent Contractor is expected to easily transition or manage different project assignments as business needs shift.

Patient Access

Appointment Scheduling to include Insurance and Benefit Verification
Pre-registration to include Insurance & Benefit Verification
Familiar with Insurance process having the ability to identify Point of Service patient responsibility such as copays, co-insurance and deductibles.
Fully understand how to complete the process of obtaining/validating insurance authorizations for services performed in acute and outpatient settings.

Billing and Follow Up

Full understanding of billing and follow up for healthcare claims.
Experience with reviewing payor commercial and governmental insurance denials.
Understand how to conduct analysis and provide Root Cause Analysis for denied claims, takebacks and/or $0 payments.
Have experience with how to provide healthcare Customer Service
Have experience with healthcare Self Pay collection

Revenue Integrity

Full understanding of charge posting in a professional and acute care setting.
Experience with CDM management.

Coding

Acute and professional certified medical coding

Overall project Assignment responsibility and Experience Requirements:

MUST BEWILLING TO TRANSITION TO DIFFERENT PROJECTS AS BUSINESS NEEDS SHIFT.
Patient Access overall functions to include; scheduling pre-registration, insurance verification, authorizations, reading electronic insurance verification, making phone calls to patient
Assist clients with claims processing and provide support throughout the claims settlement/adjudication process.
Knowledge of professional and acute care medical billing
Willing to make phone calls to insurance companies for insurance follow up as needed
Willing and able to escalate claims where the payer is giving the run around and not paying claims.
Knowledge of various types of commercial and government insurance policies and procedure for effective billing practices.
Familiarity with commercial and governmental insurance regulations and compliance requirements
Denials Management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
Experience with EPIC, Meditech, Medipac, ECW, Paragon EMR software system or other healthcare patient accounting systems.
