Now, we're looking for a Microsoft Excel programmer who's sharp with numbers and ready to take real ownership of our internal pricing system. If you love creating flawless Excel tools, building something that makes everyone's job easier, and owning a system end-to-end—this role was built for you.
About the Role:
We're looking for a sharp, detail-obsessed Excel solutions developer to own the numbers behind every project we build. You’ll be the go-to person for some of the systems that power how Hatch quotes every project. You'll start with our internal pricing system and grow from there into the other Excel-based systems that keep Hatch running.
This role is perfect for someone who is equal parts detail-obsessed and system-minded. Someone who gets as much satisfaction from a clean, error-free formula as from finally automating a task that used to eat up hours.
What You'll Do:
- Own the Pricing System: Maintain and update our internal Excel-based pricing system as material costs, labor rates, and project types change.
- Sharpen What Exists: Catch & fix inconsistencies in our pricing logic and build out additional functionalities. Improve the user experience of the pricing system for our salespeople.
- Partner Across Teams: Work closely with Sales & Operations to deliver solutions that work, launch new products, and keep our team efficient.
- Expand Your Reach: Take on additional Excel-based projects & systems beyond pricing as you settle in.
What You'll Need:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills: Nested formulas, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, macros, VBA, comfort with complex multi-tab workbooks.
- Problem Solving: Trace formula errors and pricing discrepancies back to their root cause, fix underlying issues, ability to systemize messy data.
- Attention to Detail: Catch small errors before they become costly mistakes, double-check inputs & outputs, don’t let inconsistencies slide.
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with exterior remodeling, specifically siding, windows, or roofing systems
- Experience owning / building a pricing or estimating tool at a small or mid-size company
- Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint & Word, Adobe PDF.
