Full Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide compassionate and high-quality care to patients in various medical settings.

Responsibilities:
Reviews, triages, and schedules new patient referrals based on acuity of symptoms and imaging

Coordinates patient flow for clinic. Initiates visit documentation, adding pertinent medical and surgical histories, medications, and allergies. Pulls images on clinic computers for Providers

Coordinates with Medical Assistant the patient scheduling, answering phone calls and obtaining additional medical records

Reviews and provides maintenance of medication list for return patients. Requests controlled substances per electronic submission to providers when requested. And order non-controlled medication prescriptions as directed

Provides patient instruction/education regarding recommended treatment(s) including physical therapy, other testing (EMG), labs, medication instructions, side effects, pre-operative appointments, surgery appointments

Coordinates surgery schedule by

· Scheduling preop evaluation with anesthesia service
· Scheduling surgery dates in the practice scheduling system, UT OR, UT Day Surgery and other facilities
· Providing patient handouts of appropriate instructions
· Obtaining and following up on needed insurance precertification for surgery, including peer to peer discussions for denied cases
· Scheduling post-operative appointments and imaging prior to visit, if appropriate and requested

Completes outgoing patient referrals to other providers

Available for weekend rounds for on-call Physician

Available to provide updates and plans of care on acute floor patients to Providers

Available to attend clinic at other practice office locations

Available to attend early morning conference meetings when requested

Communicates frequently with physicians, patients, patients’ families, visitors, and co-workers.

Requirements:
- Valid RN license
- Proven experience in a clinical setting
- Proficiency in EMR systems
- Strong knowledge of anatomy
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
