Position Overview:
The Grant Writer serves as a key driver of our organization's financial growth. The position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing funding from corporate, foundation, and government sources to support our mission and expanding programs.
Key Responsibilities:
● Funding Acquisition & Pipeline Management: Research, identify, and vet new institutional funding prospects to expand the organization’s donor base and ensure that grant funding targets are being met/exceeded.
● Proposal Development: Write, edit, and submit highly competitive grant proposals, letters of inquiry (LOIs), and concept notes that clearly articulate measurable outcomes and community impact.
● Funder Stewardship: Build and maintain strong relationships with foundation program officers and corporate giving managers, engaging them in our mission prior to and following proposal submissions.
● Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with program staff to gather data and stories from the field, and collaborate with the finance team to develop accurate, funder-ready project budgets.
● Compliance & Reporting: Manage the grant calendar to ensure 100% on-time submission of all proposals and impact reports, ensuring strict adherence to funder requirements. On-site presence may be required based on grant requirements.
In addition to the above-listed duties, attendance at department meetings and monthly staff meetings is expected. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Director of Development consistent with your position, skills and experience.
Required Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing or a related area
● A minimum of three years experience in grant writing with the demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate, and secure $100,000+ awards from corporate, foundation, and government sources
● Ability to collaborate with internal program staff to translate complex data and project budgets into compelling, funder-aligned narratives that drive investment
● Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process
● Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
● Multitasking, organizational and time management skills
● Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity
● Strong organizational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
● Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail)
● Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
