Position:
Material Handling Technician
Reports to:
Material Handling Superintendent
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates a process computer for process control.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform basic math.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Inspects each assigned process area for abnormal situations, takes corrective action, and reports incidents to management.
Operates and maintains stationary equipment and mechanical equipment.
Reads instruments and logs data.
Records operations and maintenance actions.
Maintains an adequate supply of materials.
Assist in training contractor employees in loading areas.
Ability to use computerized data management systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Required
High School Diploma or GED or related military experience is required.
Preferred
1-3 years of experience in railcar/truck loading operations or some relevant industrial experience
Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to push, pull, bend and perform long periods of standing and walking on cement foundations.

Occasionally required to stoop and kneel.

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.

Required to be medically certified for respirator and medically fit for duty.

Use of PPE required in specific areas.

Willing and able to work 12 hour rotating shifts and overtime as required.
Work Environment:

Chemical manufacturing facility, in presence of chemicals.

Occasionally work in tight or closed-in spaces.

Work outdoors, in sometimes inclement weather.

Moderate noise-level and environmental vibration related to equipment.
