Clinical Supervisor Vacancy at the HEAT Program

Program Overview

The Health and Education Alternatives for Teens (HEAT) Program was established in 1992 to offer comprehensive medical and mental health care, supportive services, and access to clinical research for HIV+ and at-risk youth, aged 13 to 29. HEAT seeks health equity and provides age and developmentally appropriate, culturally-competent HIV care for heterosexual, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, Black, and Latino youth. A community-based program of the SUNY Downstate Medical Center, HEAT provides services at the University Hospital of Brooklyn, located in one of the highest

HIV/AIDS - prevalence areas in New York City, and the nation. Our full-service clinic embraces a philosophy of “one-stop shopping,” where all HIV care is provided by an interdisciplinary team, eliminating the barriers that youth often face when trying to access health care. HEAT’s adolescent-focused model puts the young person in the center of their care and involves the client in all decisions about their treatment.

Clinical Supervisor Position Description

Desired Starting Date: June 2026

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 a year

Job Location: On-Site Mon-Fri. SUNY Downstate Medical Center, 450 Clarkson Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11203

Responsibilities:

· Provide comprehensive case management and referral services to HIV-infected adolescents and young adults

·Supervise medical case managers.

· Participate in case management, CQI, case presentation, and general staff and supervisory meetings

· Maintain documentation of case management activities in electronic medical records

· Develop and implement assessments and reassessment service plans for assigned clients on caseload

· Provide individual, couples, and family counseling to HIV+ and high risk YMSM and transgender youth

· Make psychiatrist referrals as needed

· Screen for depression, anxiety, substance use, IPV, and domestic violence

· Provide clinical assessment for participants in program DEBIs

· Provide clinical supervision to case management team

Minimum Requirements:

· NY Clinical Social Worker License

· Prior experience working with youth, HIV substance use, LGBT communities, people of color and providing mental health services

· 5 years of experience providing case management and/or counseling services to HIV+ clients, youth from communities of color, and women

· Must be able to engage and retain adolescents and young adults in care

Preferred:

Experience providing mental health services to HIV+ adolescents and LGBT youth ages 13-29.
Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of health system technologies.
Excellent writing skills
Ability to multitask
