Position Summary
Responsible for the operation of one or more types of computer numeric controlled production equipment. Selects appropriate tooling, program, settings, holding tight tolerances and makes adjustments as necessary. Edits programs as necessary. Performs tooling change overs, and keeps work area organized. Follows established quality and safety standards.
Essential Functions
· Set up and operates various CNC machines (Lathe or Mill)
· Perform edits using conversational programming or G&M code on 2-3 axis CNC machines
· Can machine threads and complex features
· Select, set-up, adjust and operate specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision operations
· Align and secure holding fixtures
· Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including but not limited to turning, facing, and knurling.Set up and operates various manual machines.
· Ability to read blueprints and calculate dimension and tolerances using mathematics and gaging instruments such as micrometers, Vernier calipers, calipers, ruler/scale, bore gauge, depth gauge, I.D./O.D. thread gauges and gauge blocks.
· Understands TIR/concentricity
· Understand speeds and feeds
· Understands general machining principles
· Understands basic GD&T and dimensioning practicing principles
· Ability to identify and analyze tooling; Tap, end mill, drill, groove tool, ETC.
· Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations of the machines.
· Performs first and last part inspection
· Basic computer skills
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical schooling or degree preferred
· 0-1 years related experience and/or training on Bridgeport style mills and lathes in a manufacturing environment
· Must be able to read basic blue prints, technical drawings and operate equipment in a safe, efficient manner
· Ability to use various types of inspection equipment; micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
· Ability to bend, kneel and stoop frequently
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
· Ability to follow all safety requirements
· Ability to work in small areas in order to perform the work
· Ability to climb step ladders as needed
Work Environment
Normal shop environment that includes some exposure to noise, fumes and dust.
