Company Overview

West Shore Pain and Spine Institute is a physician owned and operated single-specialty ambulatory surgery center focused on interventional pain management procedures. EOE.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead clinical and administrative operations at our single-specialty ambulatory surgery center located in the Mechanicsburg area. This is a hands-on leadership role for a nurse executive who is equally comfortable at the bedside, in the boardroom, and in front of a state surveyor.

The DON oversees nursing practice, staffing, and quality across our ASC, and serves as a key administrative partner to the Administrator and Medical Director. This role carries direct ownership of facility licensing, survey readiness, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Direct day-to-day nursing operations, staffing, and clinical workflow for interventional pain procedures (e.g., spinal cord stimulator trials/implants, MILD® procedures, intradiscal injections, medial branch blocks).
Serve as the facility's clinical administrative lead, partnering with the Administrator on budgeting, staffing plans, supply chain, and day-to-day operations.
Lead survey readiness and serve as primary clinical point of contact during state licensing surveys, CMS/accreditation surveys, and life-safety inspections.
Maintain compliance with 42 CFR Part 416 CMS Conditions for Coverage for ASCs, and with applicable accrediting body standards (AAAHC, AAAASF, or The Joint Commission).
Develop, review, and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols; ensure staff competency documentation and annual skills validation are current.
Oversee infection control, quality assurance/performance improvement (QAPI), and risk management programs.
Manage nursing recruitment, onboarding, credentialing coordination, and staff performance.
Ensure clinical documentation supports accurate coding, billing, and payer compliance in partnership with the billing/operations team.
Maintain emergency preparedness plans, staff certifications (BLS/ACLS as applicable), and equipment/supply readiness.

Requirements

Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Minimum 3–5 years of nursing leadership/management experience; ASC or perioperative/procedural setting strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience with facility licensing, state Department of Health surveys, and CMS Conditions for Coverage (42 CFR 416).
Experience with ASC accreditation standards (AAAHC, AAAASF, or Joint Commission) and survey preparation.
Strong administrative and operational background — budgeting, staffing, supply chain, or practice management experience a plus.
Working knowledge of infection control standards, OSHA requirements, and QAPI program development.
Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced procedural environment.
