Full Job Description

The Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute is seeking a Preop/ PACU nurse for our surgery center on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The ideal candidate should have the following requirements:

- Completion of an accredited nursing program required.

- Current state nursing license required.

- Previous experience in preoperative or critical care.

- Previous experience in PACU

- Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills

- Plastic Surgery experience is a plus.

- Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.

Job Description:

- Conduct thorough preoperative assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and patient education.

- Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare patients for surgery, ensuring all necessary protocols are followed.

- Monitor patients in the PACU, assessing vital signs, pain levels, and recovery progress, while providing immediate interventions as needed.

- Educate patients and their families on postoperative care, pain management, and recovery expectations.

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR) to ensure continuity of care.

- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to safety protocols to enhance patient care.

- Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate post-operative/post-anesthesia period.

- Surveils patients and administers physician’s orders during both the preoperative and postoperative stages.

- Circulate in surgeries as needed.

- Assist in setting up for surgeries, turning over areas, restocking and cleaning of OR, PreOp and PACU area.

- Other duties as assigned by the OR nurse manager, including some admin duties.
