Position Overview

The Circulating Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the surgical experience. Working closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and recovery staff, the Circulating RN helps ensure safe, efficient surgical care while serving as the patient's advocate in the operating room.

The ideal candidate is an experienced perioperative nurse who works well in a team environment, communicates effectively, and is committed to providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based perioperative nursing care
Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify surgical readiness
Serve as the patient's advocate throughout the intraoperative experience
Coordinate patient care during surgical procedures
Maintain a safe and efficient operating room environment while following established standards of practice
Ensure compliance with patient safety protocols, including surgical time-outs and site verification
Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and PACU staff
Monitor the patient's condition throughout the procedure and respond appropriately to changes
Document patient care accurately and completely
Assist with maintaining equipment, supplies, and operating room readiness
Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Required

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Minimum of two years of recent circulating experience in an operating room
Current BLS certification
ACLS certification (or ability to obtain within the required timeframe)
Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Preferred

Ambulatory Surgery Center experience
Experience in a multi-specialty surgical setting
