Full Job Description

We are looking for a Business Systems Developer to help us connect systems, data, and people so the business can operate with better visibility, speed, and decision‑making.

This role is intentionally broad. You will design, build, and improve the data flows, integrations, and lightweight applications that sit between our core business systems and the teams who rely on them every day. You will work closely with operations, sales, marketing, and leadership to turn real‑world business problems into practical technical solutions.

This is a hands‑on role that combines leading, designing, and doing. As a small, entrepreneurial team, we value comfort with ambiguity, curiosity, and a willingness to experiment in a fast‑paced, change‑oriented environment.

What You’ll Do

Build & Integrate Business Systems

Connect and integrate data across core business platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, catalog, order entry, and other internal systems)
Design and maintain data pipelines that prepare operational data for reporting and decision‑making
Own the flow of data from source systems to business‑ready outputs, with an emphasis on reliability and clarity

Develop Practical Applications & Tools

Build and maintain lightweight internal and customer‑facing web tools that surface real‑time information
Create utilities, dashboards, or applications that improve visibility, efficiency, and user experience
Maintain and enhance existing applications and integrations over time

Enable Better Business Decisions

Partner with non‑technical stakeholders to understand business questions and translate them into technical solutions
Structure data so it can be confidently used for business intelligence, analysis, and performance tracking
Help teams understand what data is available, what it means, and how to use it

Leverage and Enable AI

Use AI tools to accelerate development, testing, and analysis work
Build systems and data structures with an eye toward enabling emerging AI capabilities in the future
Stay current on new tools and best practices and evaluate where they can deliver real business value

Grow With the Organization

Over time, help define technical standards, patterns, and best practices
As the company grows, this role may evolve into leading a small team of developers and analysts

Key Skills & ExperienceCore Technical Skills

Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational data
Proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language for automation, transformation, and integration
Experience with data modeling and structuring data for business use

Systems Integration

Experience integrating multiple business systems and data sources
Working knowledge of APIs, data exchanges, and ETL / ELT concepts
Comfort troubleshooting data flow and system‑to‑system issues

Web & Application Development

Experience building or maintaining internal or customer‑facing web applications
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Ability to design simple, maintainable solutions rather than over‑engineering

Business & Collaboration Skills

Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
Experience working directly with non‑technical users and stakeholders
Clear communication and a pragmatic, problem‑solving mindset

Mindset

Curiosity and desire to continually learn new tools and approaches
Comfort operating in ambiguity and evolving role definitions
You don’t need to know everything — but you must be good at connecting things and learning fast.

Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications

Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Familiarity with BI or visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
Experience with version control (Git)
Exposure to manufacturing, operations, or order‑driven environments
Prior experience mentoring others or taking informal technical leadership
