AGC (Bothell)  has a TON of issues in the Manufacturing Department. There are managers that have no practical experience in the departments that they govern, yet get protected by leadership. There have been leadership decisions for systematic changes in the Manufacturing and Warehouse systems that have made production dang near impossible. It constantly feels like we're being set up to fail.

There are some great people here. Unfortunately they don't last long due to the toxic environment. The one's that haven't left already, are actively applying elsewhere. On top of the managerial issues, the outlook for the Bothell site as a whole looks pretty bad at this point. Kind of feels like I'm working on the Titanic... 

In my (HR-adjacent) role, there was a recurring expectation that HR would directly train managers on day-to-day management practices, rather than senior leaders being accountable for developing their own leadership teams. This limited effectiveness, as HR is better positioned to enable leadership rather than drive behavioral change without direct authority. In practice, the function was often focused on reactive issue management and compliance, with less emphasis on long-term leadership development.

Additionally, I was encouraged to build relationships with senior leaders while also being told that access and engagement would be inconsistent or unavailable in some cases.

Ultimately, I believe HR is most effective when it is led with a people-first perspective, with legal and compliance expertise serving as a foundation rather than the primary driver of decision-making.

Management strings you along on this ever growing list of objectives to accomplish in order to move up within the company, but intentionally makes it impossible to achieve them. The site is extremely disorganized with regards to production priorities which can make almost every day end in frustration. Turnover rate has accelerated as of recent and understandably so. The major redeeming parts are relative job security, since most people with decent experience leave, and there are a lot of good people to network and interact with here in various departments.

I enjoyed working at AGC through NuWest recruiting until I had a very unfortunate accident. I could not physically meet job requirements so I was let go to tend to my injuries. 
Everyone was real nice and helpful in teaching me get on board with their systems and procedures. Everyday was a little different, you go where your needed most .
 From QA requirements on incoming material, pulling internal WIP orders, sales orders, internal auditing on parts to make sure listed part number, lot number and locations were accurate. Organizing parts on the shelf based on priority needs or like liquids in flame cabinets.
Properly storing a large amount of inventory in a very small warehouse can be an all day, everyday job. 

Working at a CDMO is inherently fast-paced and can be chaotic at times… the people and our mission make it worth it! AGC has experienced rapid growth over the last five years, which can be extremely challenging. The Executive Team is committed to investing in people and systems, and improving the overall culture and work/life balance. We band together as “family” because we collectively achieve heroic accomplishments on a daily basis. I truly love my AGC family. 

AGC Biologics is the best place you can learn about bioprocessing either upstream and downstream. They tried to teach you as much as you can do for them. It is all about their success and produces how many products they can manufacture. If you like doing overtime work, it is the best place to get overtime pays. The production schedule was very unorganized. Although they tried to improve their communication, they are still the same. Not much career progress and they do not train operators properly ways.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I worked as a sanitizer, sanitizing the labs  for the company controlled contamination services. it was a toxic work environment, also never received promised raises.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having an unprofessional supervisor.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work culture was a high turnover, a supervisor that would undertrained you on purpose if they didn’t like you. And highly toxic.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I would go to work and do my job and do most everyone else’s job because the supervisor could not get the employees to work.

Depending on the department you work in, you will think this place is the worst organization or one of the best. Lots of turnover, but mostly on certain teams. Some people have stayed around for a long time and make the culture toxic. Others have been around a while and keep the ship steady. Lots of new faces constantly, which means that in certain situations you can advance quickly. In other positions, you will be stuck even if your manager and skip-level manager agree, but HR will hold it hostage. The place feels like a start-up with 20 years of baggage and deep pockets from AGC INC parent company. 

Incompetent site leadership makes poor, desperate decisions and promising things it can't deliver on. 

Unqualified management sets useless site initiatives that add no value and tax the engineering team without listening to any input, but are always able to dodge accountability by pointing to the "equipment owners" as the reason their wasteful projects can't be delivered.

I started looking for a way out of this company one month after I started - please do not work here.

You’ll work yourself to death (and they’ll encourage you to!) if you don’t set a solid boundary. Get in and learn everything you can, and get out. If you think you can fix this place, you’re wrong. Lots of great people in an awful environment.
