A typical day begins with greeting each other with smiles and engaging with our patients.  The staff works closely with each other and with outside providers to ensure the best service is given to our patients.  
I personally have been working in Dermatology since 2009 and I've never stopped learning.  APDerm gives their employees the opportunity for growth if that's what the employee is looking for.  
I can't say enough about the management in the East Greenwich office.  It surpasses what most people would expect.  APDerm's higher management is always available for mentoring and open to suggestions for improvement.  We're "ONE TEAM."  
The most enjoyable part of the job is the staff.  We're family!  We do things outside the office as a group to support Volunteer day ie: Habitat for Humanity for 2024, the staff did a Walk/Run for Melanoma Research, and our providers always come together to support the staff with a holiday party, a going away lunch/dinner for staff members who are pursuing other careers, or just a pool party celebrating each other and our families.  APDerm in Rhode is an exceptional place to work.  

I worked at APDerm for a year and a half as a Call Center Scheduler. I loved my fellow remote co-workers. They were the friendliest and nicest co-workers that I ever had. My direct supervisor was not helpful whatsoever. Whenever you would ask for any assistance she would give you a passive aggressive response. When co-workers would be out on PTO there would be no one to fill in even when I asked for assistance during lunches. Sometimes the answer would be yes that someone would cover lunches but then no one would be logged into our call queue. The higher up manager is the best manager that I ever had. She was easy to get in contact with an was very helpful up until I asked about what advancement opportunities there were. I was given the run around twice that there are growth opportunities. Eventually, I spoke with HR and they said that it is very difficult to move up in the call center and that the next logical move would be for me to go into one of their offices as a medical receptionist. They tell you from interviews that there are growth opportunities in the call center but that is a lie. There is none. If you're looking for a job that you can grow with a company this is not the job for you. 

I’ve been here for a long time and it has changed so much, and not for the better. They have the most incompetent managers I’ve ever seen that can’t handle stress and gaslight you. Even their HR department needs to take some classes because they don’t respond to you ever and take forever to do anything that involves them..so talking to them is useless if you ever need to. They expect you to do a lot of work for less pay than others doing the same job. They don’t pay well at all anymore and will give you the worst yearly raise and say that’s all they can do. No manager will strive to make you a great employee they’d rather just do the bare minimum and watch you fail. Oh and a lot of favoritism in certain departments. Also they never have job openings and if they do, it’s very hard to move up because no one responds. So it’s impossible to move up in this company. Not like they have great selections anyway. I loved it here years ago, but the new management is terrible and that’s what makes a company great to work at. 

My time at APDerm was great! I loved working for them because they developed my skillset and gave me lots of growth opportunities and were flexible to my needs throughout. 

I did not work in the healthcare setting, I worked in the corporate office. They have hybrid roles available and make an effort to keep a pulse on teammate experiences and work to retain teammates as much as possible. 

Currently have performance based annual increases and intermittent bonuses. Their pay rates keep up with (and maybe even exceed) what other employers are offering for that role. 

Awesome benefit package like tuition reimbursement, teammate referral bonuses, discounted services and products and free Botox after 90 days. 

I think it’s a great company especially for people interested in Dermatology/Skincare. Don’t pass up the opportunity to work here— you’d regret it. 


APDerm is a great place to work for entry level positions such as reception or call center. You will learn so much about different computer systems, insurances as well as referrals and prior authorizations. That being said, I would personally not recommend staying at APDerm for an extended period of time. For the amount of work that needs to be done, the compensation is terrible. The practice is just too big, and you are just a body in APDerm's dermatology machine. Managers tend to micromanage and often do not seem to have a clear understanding of everything that their employees need to do on a daily basis or how much time it takes. I found it to be an extremely disorganized and chaotic place to work. My advice is to take the knowledge you gained from working here and go somewhere where you will be compensated and treated fairly.

I feel like I lost brain cells & my mental sanity working here. From the minute you’re hired you are promised things that will never happen. The schedule is a mess, staff is constantly over worked (no breaks), expected to travel to other site locations & scheduled on their days off due to inadequate staffing. When you voice any concerns to HR, you’ll be told everything you want to hear with no follow through OR you will be simply ignored. Unless you have all conversations with management in writing, they will gaslight you & act like it never happened. The provider I worked closest with was entitled, demanding & shamed me for leaving early ONCE in 6 months for a family emergency.. that was my last straw on top of everything else. Would highly recommend looking elsewhere if you care about your mental well-being.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everything about this place is stressful to the amount of work to the BULLYING and FAVORITISM in the office between practice manager and  staff members. Everyone that works at DSi except for a certain two are fake and will bully you out of there.

WARNING: THIS PLACE IS HIGHLY TOXIC

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Extremely stressful always walking on egg shells around other staff members to make sure you didn't upset them in anyway because they make up stories and report you to HR

My experience at APDerm has been great. Although there have been challenging moments they were all moments that helped me learn and be better at my job in the long run. When I felt like I outgrew my position and was ready to take a different route there were different growth opportunities for me. We have extremely understanding managers here who support us and allow us to take time off when it is needed. Being able to work in teams is definitely extremely important at APDerm. 

The Billing Supervisor is a bully, who takes pleasure in diminishing your own "feel good" ability on a job well done. The Billing Supervisor disregards rules on speech, using foul language at the drop of a hat, and with that lack of control, picks on those who strive to do a good job and target them to create a toxic work environment. Upper management either closes a blind eye, or chooses to engage in similar behaviors. It is sad, as I thoroughly loved working for this company, with the exception of the Billing Supervisor. The health of the employee is NOT taken into consideration with this person, or it's upper management.

The best part of working there was the Free Botox and learning about the dermatology world

The most stressful party is everyone making the job harder than it needs to be and providers not considering your personal life

Stressful for no reason, unorganized and horrible communication 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long days, little reward. Scheduling patients, prepping the next week. Dealing with people insurance issues. Communication is horrible throughout the company so nothing is ever clear
