-I have never written a review on indeed, but I really feel a need to do so. I did not like working here at all, and the only reason I stayed is because the the scheduler was very understanding and flexible. The management is very involved in every single nursing note and is extremely critical, unlike anywhere I have ever worked in the past. There was always call-outs and there were 2 nurses handling 20 patients each, along with a lot of documentation on an acute floor (with trach's, wounds, IV's, etc). Sometimes nurses would work a whole 8 hours without any break at all, or even an opportunity to sit down. 
-There are a few Philippino nurses (LPN's) that have been there for over 7-8years. They gossip, make you feel like an outsider, micromanage you, talk in their mother-tongue while looking right at you, yell at you instead of talking professionally. I went to my DON and complained about this a few times, only to have NOTHING happen at all. I was told by MANY employees there that this has been happening for a while now. I worked there for three months, and then applied elsewhere. It is a toxic environment to work in. 
-Instead of being able to be a good nurse and provide quality nursing care, you are busy dealing with the drama at work. I am against this type of work environment and recommend anyone that wishes to grow as a nurse or in their career to look elsewhere. There are plenty of opportunities. 
-To add to this, the pay was below average, and even after 90 days of employment I was still trying to find out why I did not have benefits and asking if I needed to do anything. I was told on MULTIPLE occasions by the person in-charge that "I'll see what I can do". Not sure what that means. I felt overwhelmed, overworked, underpaid, unappreciated, and unsafe. I gave my 2 week notice and told my boss I was leaving for a better opportunity, which is true. I did not bring up my complaints, as there was no action taken in the past. I was told good luck and that I am a good nurse. Instead, I would like to wish Alaris good luck keeping staff due to all these issues.

This work place has gone through changes which have effected the work flow and stunned the growth of its employees. Corporate has a profit forward goal in return fails to share and equal amount of wealth to the rest of the employees.  The administration fails to care for the request of the employees to take PTO and Sick days.  The nursing management fails to find ways to have upward mobility for the employees who want more education on the job, also fail to replace the broken equipment.  The employees are treated like commodities their time is bought to work on a contract either for a wage or salary.  The management from the top to the bottom fail to complete their role in being collective and communicative in the care team.  Communication errors tend to happen more often than not.  There is not enough staff to cover the needs of the patients and the needs of the employees. 1 staff member to take care of 25 residents is too much.  Complaints are not addressed and the union fails to be present.

I've only been at Alaris for a week and I already want to quit. I came in with barely any experience working in LTC. I was told that because of my lack of experience I was going to be training for an extra 3 days so 6 days in total. I got trained on a floor with 10 patients for 4 days, wasn't bad at all. I got trained on 2 different floors with 60 patients each for my last 2 days of training.  After my training I was thrown on a floor I didn't feel comfortable on with 30 patients on my own. I felt so lost and overwhelmed, I couldn't get meds out on time or keep up with the residents. I expressed this to the manager and still no help was given. Another time, I felt the same and again expressed this to upper management. I was told to take my time which I did. Taking my time resulted in me not finishing at the end of my shift. I stayed an hour more to finish my med pass. The nurses that were there to relieve were definitely annoyed as well as the supervisor. STILL NO HELP.

I'd say apply if you like no help and work independently at a very fast pace. This place is not for me.

A typical day at work is like playing a game. If you are good at the game then you will excel. Although there will always be something challenging to try and keep you from excelling but it's up to you how you handle the situation. Everyday I learn something new about one of my residents when conversing with them sometimes good and sometimes bad. My co-workers on my floor are great when it comes to teamwork. Also a lot of my co-workers I really don't care for but I am not there to make friends with anyone so I keep it strictly professional with them. I also have some co-workers that keep me positive and I truly value their friendship. Overall the job is great for the experience.

Despite enjoying the population of individuals I work for, staff and management are the most difficult part of the job to navigate. Despite advocating for yourself, the HR department does not even have a system for complaints. Expressing yourself to management falls on deaf ears unfortunately and there is a chain of command so it is very easy for communication to fall through. Confidentiality is not a thing at this job, if you tell someone in a high position; everyone else will find out. Gossiping and retaliation are frowned upon, however, everyone gossips and there is no accountability. This is not the ideal place to work if you cannot handle stress. Managers do not positively uplift you and they do not do yearly reviews; just monthly meetings where they ridicule you and make you feel like you are not progressing. They do not notice accomplishments, rather they focus on your mistakes.

I started working as a Rehabilitation aide in Alaris Health at Riverton before becoming a Registered Nurse. I've worked since February 2012 up until July 2013. A typical day at work is always a great learning experience for me. Each day I learned new things that is  related to my nursing career. I was exposed in patient care, and assisted Physical Therapist's during bed transfers while applying proper techniques for each procedure. Having graduated from a foreign country, I have also enhanced my communication skills by daily interacting with my co-workers and patients. I do not see my job as a Rehabilitation aide difficult because I enjoy helping others and do the very best that I can to serve. The most enjoyable part of my job was to be able to build good relationships with my co-workers as well as the patients in the facility. I really had fun learning and exploring new things during my stay at Riverton.

Originally I didn't want to work here because I was dreading working at a nursing home especially after everything that I heard about working at nursing homes in general, but while they are short staffed frequently it's because I think a lot of nurses just want to work at hospitals and don't really want to work at the nursing homes. On the one hand I got a ton of extra shifts here and was able to pay off my school loan pretty quickly on the other hand it was frequently short staffed. Management tries to call other nurses up to pick up the shifts so they aren't short staffed, the staff here is friendly and helpful. I'm happy I worked here. I got to do a lot of treatments that helped me when I transitioned into the hospital setting.

A typical day at work for me normally smooth I like to make my job smooth as possible. Starting work for me I am giving a assignment with a list of twelve room numbers where the residents are. I provide patient care for whom ever needs the assistance. I learn new things every day from the people in my environment. I learned a great line of patience at the age twenty two. I've learned a lot from nurses that make me want to expand my career. I feel like the management  at my facility is fair. My co-workers and I work together very well. We try to make everything a team effort. The hardest part of my job is seeing someone pass on. The hardest part of my job is working short handed, it makes it hard on everyone else. The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to shine a light on everyone I may come across. A simple smile is a dose of medicine.

-Morning program consisted of coffee hour and a cognitive or physical activity that lasted us until it was time to transport for lunch. 
I was placed on the long-term care unit and got to know each of my residents through daily activities and individualized attention. We kept daily attendance and updated paperwork on each resident so that we could properly meet each of their needs. Most of my residents were Alzheimers/Dementia patients and had very specific needs that we needed to attend to. The afternoon program consisted of either an entertainer, bingo, or an activity on the unit. The most important thing I learned from working here is that it is important to remember that you are working with people who had lives and stories before coming here.

I worked as a recreation therapist at this facility and they give you an extremely amount of work for low pay. The shortage of staff is ridiculous where you find yourself doing someone else’s work. Management doesn’t have a backbone to stand up for their employees. They expect you to get all this work done but don’t give you the time to do it due to management wanting you to be on the floor for the whole 8 hr shift. Sometimes work gets done during lunch break which they don’t even pay you for. Also, they don’t pay you for holidays or sick days which is unbelievable. Especially during times like these dealing with Covid in a nursing home, staff should be treated way better and salary should be a reflection of hard work.
