Work-life balance
This company will hire you and if you do not essentially yourself they will look down on you. They will also offer some training but nothing of importance. Huge management issues very clique all the people that work in this company are friends and family or some type of relatives so if they do no know you do not expect to move up in the company.

Management
Not good rarely present In The office often using all their built up PTO and relay on the other people in the branch to spy and boss around the tellers.  When they are rarely in the branch they often stay locked in their office or on their phone and when they do help they make big errors and are very bad at training probably due to not being in the office .. ever.

Culture
Very tight nit group of people. Not nice people at that if they don’t like you they will do condescending things to make you feel uncomfortable or rest you, instead of speaking to you directly to correct the mistakes.

Overall
Professionalism is very important here according to HR but there is not much of it behind the scenes. There is a lot of backstabbing and inconsistency in this company all the branches do things differently there is absolutely no unity between them. I was often looked down on if I did something differently in one branch that I did in another. Very inconsiderate company I was having issues with my transportation and was terminated for calling out with out a way to get to work. Always looking for new people to replace their current employees. If they don’t like you they will find a way to get you out the door.

My honest review of Align Credit Union: it’s not a good place to work. Ever since the layoffs, it’s been difficult to fill positions with competent people. They lack a proper training department, so new hires learn very little before starting and are thrown into the workforce with several different software systems to figure out on their own.

If you’re lucky, you might get a good or knowledgeable manager who can help you somewhat. However, only Miranda and Jen actually know what they’re doing — everyone else is new and still learning as they go.

On top of that, if you point out issues with management, you face retaliation or get written up for something minor. The branches are short-staffed, yet we’re still expected to run operations shorthanded and help the call center to make up for their lack of staff.

They micromanage your every move, and upper management constantly checks the cameras to see what you’re doing. If you don’t have members in front of you, they expect you to be on the phone helping the call center.

Too many responsibilities with very little compensation. You’re expected to make no mistakes while learning the software on your own, run a branch, complete all the balancing, reports, and audits throughout the month — all while being short-staffed and trying to keep everything organized. On top of that, you still have to answer calls to help the call center. In the end, you feel undervalued. It’s all very stressful and burns you out quickly.

Just be aware of all of that before applying here.


I made a career change after 11 years with my previous job due to the lack of quality of life. I could not be happier I ended up with Align Credit union. My quality of life has gone through the roof. I took a major pay cut but the benefits including healthcare, 401K and PTO time are really great and has made the transition for me easier. My manager and assistant manager are really great people. My peers are just as amazing. We all get along and have fun which I feel makes our productivity much higher. We all help and support each other which in turn allows us to give our members world class customer service. Co workers and members alike are family. Looking forward to moving up with in the company. I give 100 percent everyday and I feel it gets recognized by management often, which is a good feeling. Overall so far in my short 7 months here has been a really great experience. 

Overall the company is great but it really depends on the department that you work for. Some department managers really motivate their employees, have regular meetings and provide lots of training. Unfortunately being in the MCC department, this was not the case. You are really given limited tasks, very little training, and expected to know everything. The department is run with fear and it is very hard to learn in that environment. There is no consistent training across the organization and we aren’t allowed to reach out to other areas for help so the answer you give to one person really depends on the location the person was dealing with. I posted for others positions in the organization but I feels that this was blocked by the managers of my area which ultimately caused me to leave. 

Align Credit Union has seen more people come in and leave within the past two years than it ever has before. Most recent management has been all brought on through recommendations, creating more 'cliques' than anything else. Some of them seem good, but majority are more 'yes-man'. There is no work-life balance; you are guilted over and over again for not giving more of your life to the company. They have unmanageable expectations and will disrespect you if you bring it up. Communication is terrible; for a while it was good, then it tanked again. Departments do not interact well together; everyone is out for themselves. SVP's and up do not care about you unless you sign their paycheck. Read the other reviews- they are there for a reason. 

Disrespectful manager. Kind of a “do as I say, not as I do” situation a lot of the time, which often confused me. Only time I heard from her beyond a hi/bye when I did made a mistake, not when I went above and beyond for members. Upper management seems pretty apathetic as well. Loved my assistant branch manager, but she was under appreciated and never listened to. If she were to advance to branch manager the place would be x10 more positive and productive, without a doubt. Would not recommend working here.

It was fun working in the member care center. But you often do work that would fall under other departments. You do not get paid enough unless the manager really likes you and decides to promote you 2x in 7 months while the others who work hard and get nothing but a pat on the back suffer. Favoritism is a huge thing in the call center. They train you for two weeks and after you ask for further training in different subjects you just get told to “use your resources” every single time, which then gets you into trouble when you make mistakes even though you asked for help to prevent you from getting to that point and they STILL told you to look in your “resource Bible”. 

If you're considering working here, pay attention to the negative reviews. Turnover is high, and team stability is low. Training is minimal. Everyone gets the same generic credit union overview, but real, on-the-job training is little to nonexistent. There’s no support or clear direction for new employees, yet you’re expected to know everything from day one and blamed when you don’t. There’s a clear divide between senior management and everyone else. Communication is poor, and departments don’t collaborate. It often feels like everyone is looking out for themselves.

The warnings are there for a reason, don’t ignore them.

I have been with Align for a couple of years and they have been nothing but supportive of my career growth. I have taken advantage of opportunities to work in a variety of departments which ultimately grew my banking skillset. Like any workplace, touching base with higher management frequently enough to make your presence and progress known is needed in order to advance. Accountability, amiability and diligence gets you far here! The nature of the work of some departments may be more difficult than others but there has never been a time that I haven't been able to get past challenges for as long as I communicated them. Align is continuing to grow and modernize and new ideas are always welcome.

Align Credit Union has gone through many positive changes over the course of the past year. The culture has improved vastly as has the sense of teamwork and acceptance. Our new CEO and the entire management team have been a the head of these changes, working to empower all employees at all levels. I have been with the Credit Union for several years, but never had a sense of belonging until these changes started. Align has a long successful history within the communities we serve and I am proud to be part of the team taking action to improve our organization for our employees and our Members.
