Amarillo-Medical-Specialists

Amarillo Medical Specialist is a medium sized group of primary care physicians as well as specialists.  This organization is a fast paced organization that has recently has changed their upper management team causing instability and chaos throughout.  A typical day at the office is arriving at 7:30 in the morning, getting our office ready to open and ensuring all employees are ready for patients to begin walking in the door at 7:45.  Throughout the day we do not have time for breaks or hour long lunches as we are trying to get caught up from being in clinic all day.  I usually leave the office around 6:00 or 6:30 pm once the last patient has left and all my employees are caught up on their job duties.  I work with some hard working co-workers that have formed a strong team to support our physician and two nurse practitioners.  Since changes in management, I have attempted to keep my staff safe from being terminated so the new COO can bring in his old staff from his previous employer.  The hardest part of my job has been to protect my employees and ensure them that there is job security when I don’t know from day –to-day when upper management will walk in and let us all go.  I enjoy working with each and every one of my employees as well each patient on a daily basis.  I also enjoy watching my employees grow and strengthen their education and experience.  Throughout the past year and a half, I have gained an extensive knowledge of the medical field being I did not have any experience when I was hired as a receptionist and currently I am the office manager.

I do not recommend working for this company unless they hire someone else to work with you in the lab. Everyone told me my first week that they play favorites, they will try to get you fired for whatever reason. Working the lab would have been no problem if I had actual training, and actual help when it got slammed. I usually saw 70 patients before lunch, which isn’t too crazy but there is no room to have 70+ people sit. I was hired to do a job and I was good at it, there were no complaints about the lab draws, however my face wasn’t friendly enough. The brought out the CEO to berate me for not smiling, I had only been there 3 days before they pulled me aside to tell me that my blood draws were fantastic and I was personable with the patients but my face wasn’t friendly. After that I lost all motivation to go to work. I had coworkers asking why I hated working there after my first day, coworkers telling me that the doctors don’t like me, coworkers telling me to suck it up and work. Just overall wasn’t a fan. I’ve worked awful jobs but this one by far takes the cake. 
Also everything in the lab was extremely expired, I don’t know how they passed inspections. 

Working here has been a very frustrating experience. While the doctor is truly great and cares about patients, the overall work environment is extremely stressful, not just during work hours but even outside of work. I constantly feel on edge.

One of the biggest issues is with HR. They are not helpful when it comes to resolving problems or concerns. Instead of remaining neutral and supportive, they clearly have favorites and consistently take their side, which makes it very hard to feel heard or supported. This kind of environment makes it difficult to grow or feel comfortable speaking up.

I would not recommend this workplace if you're looking for a healthy, fair, and supportive atmosphere.

The management has recently changed, hopefully for the better? There is a lot of favoritism and if you liked High School this is a good job for you... You get all of the drama and constant back stabbing you like. 
People that have been here years are "maxed out" so new employees come in making almost what a 20 year Vet makes, the training in minimal the system is basic and has issues daily. 
The lack of structure and organization in this company is a joke. 

Consider any offer very carefully, especially if it is within the initial interview. You’re tossed as easily as you are hired on. No opportunity for advancement, unless acquired on own. Absolutely not compensated for what is expected from you- experience is irrelevant. The only benefit working here was the hours- no weekends, and work half day on Fridays.

I absolutely love my job and my work family. From the time I arrive in the morning until I leave to go home  I feel appreciated and valued. My patients value our department and every staff member they come in contact with, I feel I am constantly learning 

staff is overworked, treated poorly, and they play favorites. very stressful environment. the doctors see too many patients for them to accurately take care of them. 

The physicians and Management do not value an honest loyal employee, they favor the ones who keep up drama and do the least amount of work possible. Obtaining updates in billing changes or processes is impossible, you must fend for yourself. 

I learned to have compassion for patients that were going through a very difficult time. Hardest part of the job was seeing people in pain. The most enjoyable part of the job was that I always stayed busy.

I do not recommend working here. You will not be treated with respect and your dedication to the company will not be recognized. Very very sneaky people that work here/own the practice.
