There are MANY weird issues and a few things that make it worth it. Most of management is highly unprofessional in many ways. They use loud profanity while customers are on the phone as if they have Tourette's syndrome and can't control themselves, they talk trash about their employees and customers in front of others... and loudly enough for customers to hear, they use embarrassment tactics for "training", they don't have much formal training.... but as long as you're not aligned with being on the other end of their mess- you stay to yourself, do your job, come to work on time, stay focused on the money, and check management if they try you, you might be able to get by with low stress and ease and a living wage. They don't really low ball with the pay, which is nice. Most of the managers are very good at their jobs, they just don't have much time to train people or create formal training so you kinda have to wing it a lot of the time. There are many foundational issues within the company but they are open to suggestions and they take good ideas from employees and go with it. They seem to be willing to evolve and grow, which is always a good sign. They have a large break room with free coffee, a refrigerator, microwaves, etc. Clocking in and correcting your timestamps is pretty easy. The paycom system is GREAT! The biggest area of improvement would be for them to develop formal training in the form of videos and written step by step guides that employees can access at any time, that covers all subjects related to the job. It can feel disempowering and belittling when you have to ask management and co-workers how to do your job multiple times rather than just pulling up a document and following the steps yourself, ESPECIALLY when management is busy and they act like they don't want to help you or act like they're annoyed by you asking the same question multiple times. Learning requires REPETITION and TIME. This is completely missing from the equation in certain departments. Profanity is a part of the culture here I guess... Meh... I don't really care about that as long as it's not directed at me. Overall, my experience has been good because good, humble, and kind people work here. Co-workers support each other and they are always happy to help.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
There is no one best part, although there were many best parts. It is a team orientated atmosphere where everyone helps each other accomplish realistic goals. The owners and upper managers are really keyed into the well being of their employees. I have worked for many companies over my long life span. I can honestly say that American Power and Gas i.e., Consumer Sales Solutions, is the best company I have ever worked for. The training was most excellent, a very simple road map to help the account managers they hired become successful. The pay was awesome, the hours great, great benefits, plenty of paid time off. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There was very little stress, and any stress was self created. If you can be disciplined to work while you are there and give a good effort it's a walk in the park. You just have to stay on task. The goals are set but never changed and you always have a target you can meet as long as you work for it.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's a big party atmosphere everyday, and I really miss the culture and the people there. They are eager to pay you at APG, they want you to make money because they make money when you do, it is a symbiotic environment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I started at 8:30am, we had a little motivation communication session for usually 10 minutes, the always had hourly and am goal/rewards you could earn. The brought food and coffee and expressos around in the am, bought lunch 2-3 times a week. The day flew by, lots of laughing and I felt like I was part of a team, part of a family. This is an awesome place.

this is a telemarketing job, nothing more. you will have to apply for a license and the fee will come out of your first paycheck. however, unless you make it past training and meet all their quotas, don't expect to make more than $12/hr for a while. 99% of the 200-300 calls they expect you to make will result in failure.

 if you can blindly follow instructions and you enjoy harassing people at their workplaces, then this might be the job for you. i, on the other hand, felt it was scummy to demand to speak with doctors, teachers, and other people who were obviously in the middle of important work in order to shove a sales pitch down their throats. and yes, you have to demand, otherwise they scold you for "asking a question" or being too nice on the phone. expect lots of gaslighting and supervisors asking "are you worth 6 figures?" 

on the upside, the people who work here seem to be nice people, if you have no problem with cursing, trap music, and some unprofessionalism. the workplace can be laidback and fun- but only if you "sell! sell! sell!" and become one of their favorites. otherwise, it's just stressful competition.

you are guaranteed to be hired, because they constantly lose employees. the interview was less than 5 minutes and i regret not asking more questions. they have parking dedicated to applicants, plaques stating that this is "the best sales job you'll ever have", and a building dedicated to training that does employee orientations everyday of the week. that should tell you something about the stability of this job.

With APG everything was awesome except the actual work itself .   What I mean by that is the training, the work environment, the culture, compensation, management, even hr was all great.   But the actual outbound calling and the ability to be successful in the amount of time they give you is realistic to only a small percentage of employees.   In fact everyone who worked with me the first couple of mos thought for sure I would be a top producer (myself included) but when it came down to it, this kind of thing often takes a little bit to get good at.   I found that the energy lags for the people who aren't getting accounts regularly and everyone goes through that.   People can be on top one week and have nothing next week.   That's the way it goes, but it takes time to get good at something like this and at the rate they hire they can't afford to give employees the time it takes to get really good at it and only end up keeping the people who either get lucky to begin with or are natural at it instantly.   The rest of us get terminated before or right when benefits start. 
I will say that when there were a few complaints against a manager for treating employees poorly swift action was taken and he was demoted (he quit) and the salary vs commission pay until you meet qualifications to get salary plus commission pay was changed and they implemented a structure in salary plus commission where everyone would get it, they just had to make it make sense for them as the employers too.   It's just too bad that they terminated alot of people as a result of these changes.  

I worked for this company for a total of three weeks, so my review is biased from the viewpoint of a trainee. Success in cold-call sales comes primarily from being able to hustle the product while thinking quickly on your feet. Unfortunately, the training provided by the company is primarily the near-rote memorization of a pitch, some clever ways of getting through a receptionist, and some basic rebuttals. What you are not really prepared for in training is the mental grind of dozens upon dozens of abrupt hangups, angry customers, and feeling left behind if your neighbors are lucking out with bill pulls and sales seemingly without effort or even the ability to give their pitch without stumbling over it. 

The general workplace culture is more akin to a fraternity house---loud music, loud supervisors keeping the energy high, and loud people. It is not for everyone, to be sure. 

There is no real 'enjoyment' to the job as a trainee. Most people last a few days and leave. From day one, you are analyzed and quantified, and if you don't produce or improve at the level expected of you, they let you go unceremoniously. To succeed here you have to be naturally assertive and not think too much. Street hustlers and folksy charmers will naturally do very well. Everyone else? Not so much. 

This is one of the worst jobs I have worked for. Prior to taking this job, I worked at a school with good hours and pay. I then applied for this company just to see what they had to offer. When I received the phone call regarding my application, I was lead to believe that out of 800 resumed, mine was hand selected by the head of the recruiting department. After interviewing, I felt excited because they made me believe that I was be making $1000+ every week. However, it is hard to make commission off those sales as it is cold calling, and harassing people. You experience a lot of mean customers due to the assertiveness they make you demonstrate. I was 3 days out of training and was already being degraded, unvalued and disrespected. I was told I better make some sales or my supervisors would be miserable with me, and how I was on their bad list. When they have group meetings they basically call the people who have no sales, losers. They show favoritism to their top sellers, but the top sellers are line fed, or given all the attention to Guarantee the sale would close. I regret taking this job. Every day I sat there I felt miserable with anxiety due to the high pressure of selling. If you have a good job and you’re debating on whether or not to leave it for this job, DONT! Do yourself the favor. 

My experience here was extremely negative, and I would strongly caution anyone considering this role. The job was misrepresented during the hiring process. What was described as an engaging and people-focused position turned out to be a high-pressure, sales-driven environment with constant monitoring, scripted interactions, and unrealistic expectations. The atmosphere felt intense and exhausting from the start, even during training.

The work culture was toxic and unsupportive. Management appeared encouraging initially, but quickly became cold and dismissive if performance targets were not met. Job security was very poor, and people were let go quickly, sometimes over minor issues. Training felt disorganized, and communication from staff was inconsistent. I did not feel supported or treated fairly during my time there.

Compensation was also a major concern. Pay was far lower than implied, commissions were unreliable, and expectations did not align with what was offered financially. Overall, the experience did not reflect what was promised, and the company’s work environment was not one where employees are set up to succeed. I would encourage candidates to be cautious and ask detailed questions before accepting a position!

Not many people can say they love coming to  work everyday. I am happy to be one of those people. 

When I first started here, I knew nothing about the energy industry and was not sure how I would do. The training is great, before you get on the phones they make sure you are prepared. I was very nervous on how I would do, most sales jobs, if you don't produce, you loose your job. To this day, I remember being in training and being told if you are willing and able, you will not go anywhere. They stood behind that. I must admit I was not the best seller, but i also was not let go either. After 4 months, I was moved to Customer Service as a rep taking inbound calls from current customers. About a year later, I was made the Supervisor of Customer Service. After these 2 years I am still learning and the training is ongoing which is great. This place has truly helped me be more patient and improve my social skills. 

I love everyone I work with, while we are very production driven, it is a very laid back and warm environment and I feel appreciated everyday. These people I work with are just not coworkers, they are my family.

You have one day ONLY of training, so pay attention, because day two you will make phone calls.  If you are shy, please do NOT apply. They take money out of your 1st check to cover your right to make calls! (yes, they dont tell you that, -50. outta my check!   You must OWN the convo and command the customer to "grab the bill".  You will be hung up on, and you get to chase them and call them back and make your point stick!  If you are a true salesperson, driven and bossy, you may stay for a month or two.  The supervisors give you the tools but you must be an assertive person, loud even!   Do not be afraid to speak over others at times so that you can show them how you can possibly save them money, if the market price dictates that they don't already pay the lowest rate.  I liked being around other people after the pandemic, but most were complaining that they were frustrated.  I stayed a couple of weeks, until I could not pull bills. I was told that I was too nice as they walked me off the floor.  I took it as the highest compliment, because I hate being mean.

The indeed ad is a lie and that’s why I’m posting this.

They say $1500-$2500 or something ridiculous like that. Here’s the facts..

Hourly pay is $13.50 

Weekly hours are 39.75
Your take home is less than $500 every week without any sales. Sales are extremely hard to make. 

You’d be lucky to consistently get 4 sales a week,  
Commission is $20 for first two sales then $25 for next two sales. It then scales up to $75. It resets every week

If you manage to make 4 sales a week that’s only an extra $90 BEFORE tax..

The people that work there are fantastic, everyone’s cool and down to earth. They have probably the best break room out there, with multiple vending machines that have snacks and sandwiches, even small pizzas. Free coffee all day. BUT, these are the only positives and unfortunately do NOT outweigh the stress of the job.

You’ll be making hundreds of calls a day, most people are rude and not interested. You’re forced to call everyone twice, even if they say not interested and hang up. 

Job is very high stress for very low pay. 

Even if the ad wasn’t a lie, which it is. Even if they paid $1000 a week guaranteed, which they don’t , it’s still not even worth it. 

If you value money, and your sanity, I would stay away from this job.
