The company culture shocked me due to its stunning warmth. It was like my co-workers immediately became family. It didn't matter what department they were from, I knew absolutely everyone & they knew me right back. It felt like a tightly knit team, like an extremely bonded friendship.

Then, one day, the lay-offs came. Over 150+ of us were herded into a room and management told us all at once that our positions were being eliminated from the company. With that, they walked out. And not a single soul in the office could bear to look at us. Over 150 people were forced out of their jobs that day, and these people who had been so close to us just days ago didn't say a word - just kept their heads down at their desk.

In all, AnnieMac was my favorite company I ever worked for. I've never been able to bond with people at a company the way that I was able to there. But, I will never be able to forgive management for the cold, heartless way that they disposed of so many people that day... and I will never forget the feeling of emptiness that I felt, knowing how much I genuinely never mattered in the scheme of things.

AnnieMac has some WONDERFUL people who work there, don't get me wrong, but some of those "friendly" people that you're talking to might be worth watching your back: they're probably already holding a knife to it.

AnnieMac Home Mortgage is a fast-paced, culture rich company that prides itself on providing exceptional customer service to its clients while encouraging collaboration between its inner departments. The environment tends to range from light and fun to heavy and stressful, depending on the time of the month (as with almost all mortgage companies, our busiest time is at the end of the month). Management supports its team members but there is not much room for professional growth as the corporate ladder is very short and most mid-to-upper level managers are not of a retirement age. Overall, I would say that AnnieMac is a good place to work; especially if you are younger in your career, don't require much direct daily support, and do not need an excellent work/life balance.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Excellent paid time off. 160 hours a year. Flexible work with many positions fully remote and all remote capable. Top notch equipment  provided so no barriers to get the job done. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Privately owned so the company can change on a dime. Also runs at the mercy of market forces without reserves to withstand bad conditions without layoffs in all departments. When's it's good business climate it's great, when it's tough you lose people.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
CEO could really use a several billion behind him so he would have the kind of room to fully exercise his vision. He's a thinker and wants his people to know what he knows and grow.

For branch managers beware:  The leadership will try to build their own relationships with your staff and if you ever decide to go to a different company , they will do whatever it takes to keep certain people. They will make up lies to attempt to create doubt with everyone on your staff so they stay with the company and not your team. They want to break up your team.  You also have no one there assisting your branch which is why they lose branches all the time. If you are a team looking to partner with a lender I would run far from this company if you wish to keep your team intact in the future.  You may arrive as one team but you will never leave the way you came. There are plenty of better entrepreneurial options out there so take my advice and keep looking.

I had heard all good things about AnnieMac Home Mortgage before I ever worked here or was even thinking of leaving my place of employment at the time.  Circumstances arose that I began looking for another job and I applied at AnnieMac.  I was hired with a similar base pay as my prior employer but with a much higher bonus payout.  The company from day 1 has been amazing and everything I heard was true.  They have competitive salaries and a true work/home balance.  There are many seminars as well regarding your personal mental and physical health that you can view online. The company is very proactive in their healthcare philosophy.  Co-Workers are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Training is top notch, at least for my field of work it is.  Truly a great place to work.

Each time you try to email and reach out to a manager or anybody with a question they were always constantly in a meeting and never got back to you for days. There was no support at all. None you had a WING it!! How was one to be successful for themselves in their own position let alone make the company successful when management never returned your calls or emails because they’re constantly on do not disturb and constantly in meetings?? The company dynamic was great, but Annie Mac is so well known for layoffs galore. They hire you they use you they abuse you and then they let you go. It happens more than anybody knows the benefits were great. That’s all I can say about that place.

Currently working at a great production branch in Southern USA and I find them a great company to work for.  They have progressive products for our sales teams and loan officers.  They have a fantastic platform of education, resources and coaching that they offer FREE to realtors which really makes them want to work with OUR loan Officers. Give plenty of tools in the toolbox to make yourself successful. All interactions with corporate have been friendly, helpful and professional. Very happy in my support staff position with my team and the company in general...Bottom line- loans are closing without obstacles and realtors and clients are happy.

I love my department & the people I work with, mostly. I do enjoy the work; it can be challenging,  which I enjoy but also often monotonous. Although the executive team are friendly people I find, as with all large companies, that they are a bit tone deaf. I realize the industry is a tough one but when you have employees doing a lot of work for little reward it can become discouraging. But this is often the case when you’re not on the sales side of these businesses. They all believe that sales are the only ones generating profit. But those of us who are working tirelessly to avoid penalties on the back end & take those sales to finish line, are often forgotten. 

From onboarding, orientation and training, to management, AnnieMac is a top notch employer. Leadership displays pride in the company, sets the bar high, and fosters a strong sense of culture and pride throughout the organization. Weekly yoga, regular health and wellness workshops, company sponsored fitness programs and even employee appreciation day, really help this company stand out. Truly a great place to work! 

The company culture and co-worker attitude help relieve some of the massive stress put upon the support and operations divisions. The company was undergoing a massive growth spurt during my time of employment and the growth of the sales force greatly outpaced the growth of the other divisions. This led to extreme workloads being placed on an already at-capacity support staff.

As long as the company maintains its core values and grows its operational departments in proportion to its sales it is destined for great things.
