The residents and their families are great. This is the most enjoyable part of the job.  The cargeivers, some are are amazing, some are not.  They are over worked, over stressed, and under paid.  They do the best they can, but, unfortunately, corporate and the administrator are only worried about "budget" and won't allow more cargivers on the floor, which affects the quality of care given to the residents.  Families complain constantly about wanting more caregivers to help the residents, but nothing changes. Corporate wants to label this as assisted living, but a lot of the residents have high behaviors, like hitting, etc and require 2, sometimes 3, caregivers to help them. You should also note that there is exceptionally high turn over in management.  For a building to be open for only 3 years, they are on their 4th permanent administrator, plus 2 interium adminsistrators.  The rest of the management team also has high turnover.  They are  over worked and over stressed trying to do everything in their deparment without other employees to help.  They are given the title, but are just employees.  The managers have expressed concerns regarding issues but this continues to go unaddressed.  There is no "happy team" feeling among the management or employees nor do you see that it  functions like a team.  The culture here is very broken.  There is no trust among staff, no one stands up for another employee for fear to losing their job. They just throw one under the bus to take the attention off the fact that they did or said things. When there are issues, no one discusses them with you, they just remove you. No second chances in this place, no mentoring to aid in self improvement. They pick and choose who they will bend the rules for.  It's sad, lots of good employees have left or have been let go, and some have been forced out.  Complaints to corporate about the current administrators abilities & conduct never seem to be addressed. The problems in this facility can't be fixed at the employee level, this has been an issue since the facility opened, and currrently is a still problem at the administrator level and higher. Unfortunately the lack of leadership shows.  Have no idea how this facility got the "great place to work" endorsement. Hopefully this review will lead to improvements for the residents and employees.

The morning shift and evening shift hold a ritual crossover meeting  where concerns are expressed. Communication is KEY. Feedback is open and encouraged. We learn likes and dislikes and behaviors of our Residents. 
Acclimation is one of the most important factors. We are trained on new Residents before they move in an begin a plan how we can make their stay with us better than the last situation they were in.  Staff express progress and successful interventions.  This allows us to all be a well running machine.

Meals are very busy. We serve table to table. There are certain Residents who do better eating at the high counter or separate from others / less stimulated during meals. There are others who are more social and like to sit together. There are those who need assistance eating. There are special diets.  We accommodate and learn everyone’s needs and notice when they need adjusting. 
There are so many more activities for the Residents now. Not just cards or coloring and bingo. There is a salon that is actually used often. Our Residents are dressed and styled. Our rooms are clean.  They go on so many outings and scenic drives. Out to restaurants, museums, birthdays and BBQ’s, to water gun and water balloons and dunk tank, Fathers’ Day Car Show, Luau, Lemonade stand, Mothers’ Day Tea Party, Snow Cones, food trucks, baking, reading, puzzles, painting, flower arrangements, trivia, music, live entertainment, karaoke, gardening, painting, manicures, exercise, physical therapy… It’s just SO WELL ROUNDED. There are so many pictures playing at the front desk of all of our great memories that were captured. And there are so many events that there’s always something new up. And you just, “Aww” “AWWWWW!” “ That’s a great picture!”  I have had Residents who can’t complete a sentence, tell me how much fun they had! I know them well enough to know what they are trying to say. They are remembering how much fun they had and trying to describe it. 

I loved it when I first started working here... 
But now... now it's horrible! 
Way understaffed. Poor pay for the work you're expected to do, not just your job but if any other department is short staffed, specifically caregiving..  you're expected to step in because "team work makes the dream work" but that only applies to other departments.
Management at this point is a joke. There is zero communication and when you try to speak up you get shut down or walked out the door and are no longer employed unless you're a" favorite". There is no accountability by the front office and everything that happens is always someone elses fault. The blame and responsibility always gets passed on to someone else. 
There is no appreciation for employees who work hard everyday. The morale is so low it's suffocating... the atmosphere is almost toxic and so many good employees are leaving daily or calling off because they are burnt out or just worn down with how horrible the atmosphere in the building is. It's a wonder the facility is still open!
The saddest part is the residents are suffering and not getting the care they deserve because there isn't enough staff and there's no real incentive to try and boost morale!
It's a "shut up and do as you're told and you better jump" environment that's not healthy for anyone.


A typical day at Elkridge community looks like this; we get residents ready for the day, they eat their 3 meals a day and snacks in between. Take them to activities, outings, movies ect. What I believe I learned here at this lovely community is the power of team work, communication and commitment. Big on the commitment! I love love our management team, they not only managers but they are another shoulder to lean on when most needed. They are NOT afraid to get down and help you with anything you need! Only if you ask ;) because they can get pretty busy around here helping others. This is a safe environment for every culture and believe, as long as you are a caring loving person and just show up to show out! The hardest part of the job for me would be leaving and clocking out. I say that because you WILL get  attached and FAST! These residents are remarkable !
The thing I enjoy the most here is that you can and will find the quality time to have a one on one time with the residents on your downtime when you get one. They are loving and fun but they sure can keep your girl busy which I love, and a bonus is they help me pass my time with their wild ideas and stories. I sometimes forget I'm on the clock and think that everyone here is a parent of mine or a friend of mine the way I'm comfortable and welcomed here from the manager to staff and residents. ELKRIDGE HAS MY HEART ❤️ 

Absolute chaos. We went many months without a DON and ADON, there was no accountability. The staff that was there did not care or respect work restrictions and was only interested in having work parties rather than addressing the real issues. Previous management had “favorites” and those people got away with a lot, so when new management came along the ones that got away with everything and didn’t work were still around, but weren’t aware of the issues already at hand. The facility is only 5 years old but so outdated and worn down. Furniture is soiled, the rugs are stained, and the public areas are dirty. The resident’s rooms are rarely cleaned. Housekeeping goes in and sweeps and then walks out. Lots of cliques, and either you belong or you don’t and if you don’t they make it known. It’s A LOT of caregiver “no shows” so the nurse has to do double duty a lot of times. People are coming and going constantly, it’s very rare that people stay there, therefore it’s constant chaos. Management always is complaining about the budget so don’t expect incentives, bonuses, or decent pay. My time there, they went through 2 DONS, 2  ADONS, 3 HR employees and so many caregivers that I lost count.  It’s a great place if you are a new nurse and want to get your feet wet but definitely not long term or your mental health will suffer.

It's a caregiver position (NOT cna/hha) so expect to do basic ADLs and do the dirty work. Because this is a memory care assisted living, you will be working with seniors with a variety of signs and symptoms declining with dementia, Alzheimers, hospice, and other things you will experience as every resident is different. The Med techs are the best there. Just communicate with them and they'll be more than happy to help you out when they can (theyre twice as busy as the caregivers). The pay isn't enough to live by itself so most of my co-workers worked two jobs or left because of the pay. 

Upper management is very understanding but they do have high expectations of you so when you're rewarded, it feels great and self-satisfying. Don't expect them to communicate with you all the time, they're extremely busy and the only way to get in contact is if you give friendly reminders to them when you can. If you are easily emotional and cannot handle death or high stress, this job may not be for you. There will be sad moments you will experience when dealing with the residents.

TLDR: Great start if you want to assist seniors and start getting into the nursing field but extremely stressing for a minimum wage job.

Willowbrook Place used to be an awesome and positive place to be. Now it has been going down hill lately to the point of where almost everyone not in upper tier management are getting ready to walk out. The management allegedly doesn’t care about this even though if it does happen (which is almost definite as of this posting) they are going to suffer. 

This job is very quickly becoming an extremely toxic workplace. The kitchen director is petty and vindictive and lashes out at the caregivers in whatever way she can whenever she feels like it (caregivers do light kitchen duties & serving for the residents).  The new nurse they hired appears to be completely out of touch and extremely clueless about the work culture and just wants the power over other people more than anything else. Schedules are infrequently posted. There’s a lot of “us vs them”.

 Youve got amazing coworkers and connecting with the residents can be everything sometimes. Unfortunately, it looks like they want to make the job more tedious and wanting than it needs to be. Employee appreciation and support is everything.

I have worked at Greenridge Place in Westminster for a little over a month. Management is by far the best I've ever seen. Management always goes above and beyond for staff. I have never seen a memory care or assisted living that is actually resident first. The family involvement is also like nothing I have ever seen. Management is very clear on how much they care for the residents and the staff. Management is always trying to find new ways to make their team feel cared about and appreciated. It's like a breath of fresh air to feel valued and appreciated in your position. It is an honor for me to be part of the Greenridge family. Residents are so loved here. Staff is so loved here. The Executive Director is on the floor working and talking with residents, checking in with staff as much as she can. She has an open-door policy and is always there and available for anything we need. Ther is a great balance here. The food is wonderful, Nursing staff is exceptional. You can find anyone in management any time you need them. Very supportive and kind.

Vineyard Place, along with all Holiday Retirement communities, simply don't care about their front line employees (ie. housekeeping staff, serving staff, and kitchen staff.) Office management pretty much demands that employees be smiling at all times, no matter what. Residents are allowed to mistreat all employees, except those in the office. Employee complaints are treated as "outbursts", and are met with being written up. 

Kitchen staff is expected to stay late to finish projects, even if it means working off the clock. They are also expected to come in on their days off to help with "cadence events," and any complaint of being overworked is met with threats of a write-up, or worse. 

Overall, Holiday is a pretty terrible company to work for, unless you enjoy being a complicit little robot.

Way too much drama, constant gossiping. From the moment I get there to the moment I leave it is nothing but complaints. Very short staffed and I see no new hiring being done. Not willing to work with schedules. No pay difference for noc shifts. Day shifts are highly stressful. Supposed to get raises every year but from what I've seen that doesn't happen. Some employees are rude to both residents and coworkers, then wonder why they get beat up by residents. Workers dont keep up with resident hygiene. Many employees want to be lazy and will give extra work to you so they dont have to do it, while they sit and gossip.
It's ok to get started but there's definitely better jobs out there. 
Benefits are available after 30 days, which is really one of the only pros, besides being there for the residents and a steady schedule. Medical insurance is not even affordable, especially if you want to add a spouse.
