Long time Employee, Not bitter by any means. Once hired, you pay for fingerprinting and your Certification in State yourself. (They do not pay for this) 
As a parent, it is difficult to balance work shifts, and life as it is. So you basically Spread yourself too thin. I wish they would allow for Vacation time for their employees. 24 (Hours in 1 yr)sick time Law, but they Need a valid reason why your calling in sick. Client's that are long term, usually until Hospice level and ultimately if & when a client passes. Usually out of work for sometime until another job needs to be filled. Lack of notice for shifts. So must be quick & competitive. Difficult also when it may take up to an hour commute to get to job etc. 
(Work weeks consisted of 48 hours for myself, Graveyard. Might as well work Days Since you get all your hours & OT in the same day. [EX: At midnight that's another day, so it's not consecutive hours & only get OT if you work the following Day. Otherwise you get 8 hr & 4 hours at that same pay rate. If so then OT after 9 hours worked] I'd also work weekends for my fellow coworkers as needed total of 60+ hours) Little Incentives for working and filling desperate needed shifts. I dont believe management handles any kind of conflict among coworkers well, they ignore it and expect it to go away on it's own. Or worse case until someone is fired from that Client. Management may be helpful at times, they didnt make the guidelines. Ultimately I enjoyed working for Apexcare, Because 
of the relationships I built with my client's. There were a few things that weren't clear under new ownership.  

Being able to make a difference in the lives of elderly and so forth, that is rewarding. I enjoyed the friendships made with coworkers and families.

Job requirements can include  cooking, cleaning, driving, shower assist, assist with clothing , laundry, bathroom assist, medication reminders,  games, transfers, outings, grocery shopping, help out with pets, communicate changes with the office, willingness  to work at meal times and weekends. Clients are different and some have more chores/needs then others.rewarding to help people. It’s not like a facility , there is time to do the tasks and chat and play games and eat together. It’s a lot more balanced then a facility.the office handles the logistics like staffing sick days and payroll and you can come to work and focus on the job.people ask me sometimes about death and shy away from the job because there worried about it but that’s hospice and a different job. Home health is helping someone with the activities of daily living. There are many active seniors that have many years ahead and that are great to be around .

This is the worst in home care agency to work for in the San Joaquin County. My mother worked for this company and would sometimes get off the phone crying because of how bad the schedulers talked to her over the phone. The women who do the scheduling in the office are some of the worst people to deal with. They are rude and gossip about caregivers that they don’t like. When my mother was called for a shift she always received an attitude over the phone if she was unable to take a shift. I will say if you are taking a job like this because you are trying to finish school or for some other reason, look elsewhere. I can think of 3 other pretty flexible in home care agencies in Stockton that actually respect your time and your personal schedule as a caregiver. Also, do not make any mistakes with this company. These women will scold you and they are unforgiving and judgmental. They also pay the worst in San Joaquin County and if you get on their bad side they stop calling you for shifts and play with your income because they can. Look elsewhere.

Management
They will hire you and promise certain hours but then not have any shifts available for you, and then offer short shifts (ie 3,4, and 5 hours) far from you, when they claim to try and find you clients close to your home.

Overall
I was hired with this company nearly two months ago. I have yet to work one shift. I was hired with limited hours, as I told them I wanted to get a feel for the company before I quit my other job, as I wanted to ensure I had stability. That was a very good choice on my part. I was only offered short shifts, maybe a few 8 hour shifts. They were also far from my home. They would call and ask if I was still available to work, and when I told them I was waiting for shifts that I was available for, they said they would let me know, but then offer shifts that were completely outside of my availability. When I was hired, I was told I would be getting offered plenty of shifts within my availability.

 There appears to be a culture of favoritism and nepotism within the corporate structure, which undermines fairness and accountability.

Leadership involvement is minimal, with a largely hands-off approach from ownership. This has resulted in individuals without appropriate experience being placed in positions of responsibility, impacting overall operations.

When challenges arise, communication from leadership is often accusatory rather than solution-oriented.

Overall, the work environment can feel toxic, with reports of bullying and harassment not being adequately addressed or corrected.

I have worked with Apex Care for about 2 years and have been treated fairly in every situation. The staff is kind and compassionate. They work diligently to solve any problems that should arise in a professional manner. The work environment is always friendly and relaxed. The best part about working here, in my opinion, is the understanding, cooperation and coordination between members. I never feel left out of the loop. Everyone here looks out for each other. I have never been left without shifts.

I was hired on as a care manager with ApexCare, within 6 months I was promoted to the Community Relations Manager.  ApexCare is such a family orientated company, I have learned so much in this field in the short time I have been here. The workplace culture is so comfortable, the team makes you feel so welcome. They are always there for you no matter what. The most enjoyable part of my job is getting to meet so many nice people. A typical workday can be hectic, and busy, but the team is always here for each other! So happy I chose to work here!

Good core services.  Care givers and operation staff works very well together.   Unpredictability in senior management behavior.  High turn over in the Bay Area.
No communication on job performance and no proper training for the case management position in the Bay Area.
The Case Management Position is not a sales job or Business Development Job.  It is a marketing position that is the right fit for someone that works well with an unpredictable senior management team.

A typical day at work was always consistent and I'm always on my feet going. I learned how to handle the elderly in ways I never thought were possible honestly. Management was very good and very well put together. The hardest part of the job is losing a client you've been with for many years. The enjoyable part of the job is creating a bond with a complete stranger and seeing how they put their trust in you.

I loved my job but I was offered a better job position with room for growth with a different company
I did scheduling, billing & payroll, hiring and managing caregivers i also did home visits with my clients to make sure they got the best of care. I really enjoyed being able to make a difference in others lives.
