I was hired specifically for my CPhT certification, which was directly emphasized as the primary reason for management's prioritization of my application during my ~10 minute interview. This was surprising because despite the CPhT qualification which demonstrates a highly efficient understanding of Pharmacy Technician operations and protocol, I quickly discovered that the only work I would be assigned for 3 months is virtual customer service. A typical day at work under Apotheco involved calling patients, informing them to utilize a text link to purchase their prescriptions, and documenting notes regarding each call. I was given one training session with a virtual trainer, with training responsibility afterwards falling onto shadowing my colleagues who each had their own preferred system of operations. Workflow was interrupted daily by technical difficulties arising from the lack of basic understanding management held. If you are a pharmacy technician who feels obligated to ask questions in order to better understand your own duties for your job, need not apply: management most likely does not even know the answer to your questions themselves. 
I learned about the importance of maintaining integrity within your work, and to carefully document all interactions. There is a valuable lesson to be learned regarding the necessity of strong and competent leadership, especially in any healthcare setting. 
Management at this location is extremely disorganized, forgetful, and lacks the social skills required to facilitate a healthy workplace. Although management may instruct that you follow their specific workflow guidelines, you may experience confusion upon realizing that they are essentially clueless when it comes down to comparing how your colleagues streamline workflow versus how management perceives it should be done. Management routinely backtracks upon their words, and creates a disorienting job experience while simultaneously asserting their unfounded beliefs on how to do your job better. There is zero accountability for the lack of communication and overall unpleasant manner for which you may be subjected to. I recommend relying on the staff who have been there for years as they can provide real answers and solutions. It is not uncommon to be promised one thing, such as a rotation of pharmacy technician roles, and then treated like a bother for following up on these promises ever. I would suggest that corporate invest in employees who bare the brunt of the work as opposed to the extremely lost and out of touch management they have installed.
In my opinion, the most difficult part of the job was remaining positive throughout the workday. If you have an idea that could improve overall workplace efficiency or a desire to advance beyond phone calls, it may be difficult to feel respected with this employer. It was very difficult keeping up with the abundance of erroneous changes without any explanation. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is that your colleagues are likely feeling the same way you are, and this frustration allows room for critical discussion when it comes to prioritizing patient care and integrity. There is also sometimes free lunch.

First the good things, this job is excellent when when it comes to work life balance. Off weekends, hours end at 6 pm. The job also has excellent health benefits. They offer dental, medical, vision and paid sick days. Great job to have if your young and starting out. 

Now the bad stuff, it's easy for all those benefits to get taken away if you get terminated for failing to do succeed your job duties. My main issue with this job, is the lack of training that I received. Pharmacy technicians typically require more training, at least 15 or more hours. I personally received little to no training . I was practically useless on the phone. I had to frequently get a pharmacist or ask another technician for help. I've been working there a month and I didn't know how to apply the manufacturer coupons. I asked the pharmacists but they said they would have to train me later. Our location did have some other trainers and another pharmacist to help train, but other external problems like both the printers being broken.The integration training manager having to train the other pharmacists and the new employees. I was practically left on the sidelines. I did ask for training and help on how to do the calls to confirm better, but I was just given general advice. Long story short, I was terminated after a month.  

Working here has honestly been one of the most discouraging professional experiences I’ve had. From the very beginning, there has been a clear lack of appreciation from management. Instead of support or constructive feedback, the manager frequently talks down to employees, often in front of others, which creates an uncomfortable and demoralizing atmosphere. There is little to no mutual respect, and it shows in the way communication is handled on a daily basis.

The overall office culture feels heavy and passive. Hard work is not recognized or rewarded; in fact, it’s often mocked or dismissed. Employees who put in extra effort are made to feel as though they are doing something wrong rather than contributing positively. This kind of environment discourages growth, motivation, and teamwork.

Trust among coworkers is also a significant issue. There is a constant sense of tension, gossip, and lack of transparency, which makes collaboration difficult. Instead of feeling like a team, it feels like everyone is simply trying to protect themselves.

I believe every workplace should foster respect, encouragement, and professionalism. Unfortunately, this has not been my experience here. For my own well-being and professional growth, I am actively seeking opportunities in a healthier environment where hard work is valued, mutual respect is a priority, and employees are treated with dignity.


As is typical, I love the technicians and most of the team. The work is relatively easy and the schedule is much better than retail for work/life balance.

However, everything else is terrible. Upper management has NO idea what's going on and there's no effective communication between them and it truly feels like they're just collecting paychecks to push work onto anyone that's willing to make them the money.
They will do ANYTHING to may their money. They don't care about your license, your team, your morals, your stress, or integrity as a whole. And if you give push back or ask questions, they will gladly replace you to protect their hustle. 

People are clearly not promoted or rewarded based on skill or effort. Upper management is a place for those that do whatever they're told and can lie through their teeth so they can further the charade and manipulate those below them. 

If you're thinking about working here, just know that they will tell you ANYTHING you need to hear. None of which will pan out as such. 

Other than the workload and schedule, I'd pick any other corporate/retail beast over this sketchy mess.

They sounded cool and it was my first job with benefits. Once I started it was a completely different story. I got thrown into it with no training. I was told to just watch someone for the entire day. The following day I was thrown in and was expected to succeed. I had never used the program they used, was told that my previous experience in pharmacy should be forgotten completely. I was fired after a month because they claimed I only made/took 24 phone calls in an 8 hour day. They made a big show of the call logs by waving them around and constantly referencing them, but never allowing me to actually take a look. 
I can’t help but laugh everytime I see a job opening for the location I worked for. 
Very unprofessional, extremely high turnover. I would strongly recommend staying away.

Terrible place to work at. Has very high turnover of pharmacists and technicians for many reasons. The main reason being this place has terrible directors that place blame on everone except for themselves when they are the real problem. If this place ever gets new directors this may be a good place to work at but as it is now this is an absolutely terrible place to work at. Stay far away from this place. They will tell you that you will be doing one thing during the interview and after you get in there and start working everything changes and they expect so much more work out of that is impossible to keep up with. And lastly there is extreme nepetism here. They only hire corporate people that are friends and family. Period. 

The pharmacy is a fast paced and repetitive workflow which is easy once you get the hang of it.  Salary is appropriate and Monday - Friday is helpful compared to most healthcare/pharmacy jobs.  The pharmacy plays by the rules which is reassuring but time consuming to do with the PBMs being difficult. Hard part about wages for a PIC is that bonus is tied with performance, and you have to have the skills to be able to advance performance.  It's not metric based per say but there are tools to refer to see how things are going

A typical day working at Apotheco Pharmacy would be to make customers satisfied with our services and get Prescriptions out as promptly as possible. I learned a lot working for the company such as the use of PrimeRX, Micro-Merchant, medical terms for medications and the overall environment of a Pharmacy. To be honest there wasn't anything hard about working there, things were pretty simple to understand once paying attention and having to do it ion a daily basis. the most enjoyable part was leaning
