My day started with a written and verbal report from previous shift. If there were were not sufficient nurses, I will take over the position, if there not replacement.  The next job was to inquire about staffing on each unit. If there is no pressing issues I will check emergency equipment supply, and for operation of the equipment.  I will receive an update on residents conditions, and offer suggestions for their care. I will receive an update of residents conditions, at the beginning and end of shift.  This will also included an update on any changes in condition, and when possible I will make addit nurses aide ional rounds to check staff and the adminis will also check admission charting in the computer, and assign those that need completion. I will check return medications and narcotics. Take any call outs, and ask present staff and call for replacements. I will check for adequate staffing for the next shift. 
 The facility has a computer system which allows an on call physician to make assessment of residents with the assist of their nurse. This will avoid calling primary physicians in the middle of the night, and continuation of care. The hardest part of the job was trying to keep up with multiple emergencies at the same times. The most enjoyable part .of the job was seeing the compassion nurses aide had for the patients.

I honestly love working with the Residents at Aristacare at Norwood Terrace. One can learn so much indirect history by holding a conversation with the older residents. I enjoy the challenge of a fast paced work environment; however, when the work environment is stressful and unpleasant it is no longer enjoyable, especially when the Human Resources Liaison bullies and intimidates employees, shows favoritism to certain employees, purposely embarrasses employees in front of other employees. Here is an  example of how double standards are practiced at Aristacare at Norwood Terrace: 

There are two Unit Clerks, one Unit Clerk has to not only gather supplies, but has to file monthly physician orders, medication and treatment cards, record vita signs, will the other tells upper management I don't do that the nurses on my unit do it and nothing is done or said to her. 

Or an employee did not want to disclose her pregnancy until she had some tests. She found out she was pregnant in her 5 month she was pregnant. She was not only shunned by the Human Resources Liaison, she was given such a hard time, she had to go on early maternity leave due to the high level of stress and pressure placed on her.

A typical day at work consists of people arguing loudly and trying to work in terribly unsanitary conditions. The plates and utensils are never washed properly, and it it had a noticeable stain, food residue, or any other impurity, it is ignored and food is still served on the plate. Most of the employees here do not hold any morals or principles, always trying to get the most benefit out of the least work done. 
For the most part, management is very encouraging and laid back, but there are some in higher positions that believe it is their duty to establish their positions of power by using verbal abuse to further oppress employees. 
The most difficult part of this job is entering the building and being met with the crushing realization that your hard work will never be appreciated and that your efforts to do your best will never be met with equal compensation. Even if you do your job right 100% of the time, you will be accused of doing something wrong without any position to defend yourself, as those accusing have positions of power.

This would only be some good experience learning to deal with "horrible management" on a temporary basis!  This place is dirty, inside and out! There are hardly enough supplies to take care of your caseload. Management has the "what I say goes" attitude, even though they do not know the residents needs. Their always short staffed. The recreation department is never available to bed bound residents. There are activity calendars posted BUT that is just to satisfy the state! 
If the company wants a good rating then the first thing would be to re-organize the staff. Start firing the big mouths and get people in there that will change the company for the better!
Make the department heads work in the evenings and the weekends.
Change is definitely needed!
There is something called "the trickle effect", "starts with management, and works its way down".
Very sad!

Staff treat residents very well. Treat each other like horribly.  The building doesn't function as a team. There is a ton of back bitting and people doing things that are no where near their job descriptions.  The disrespect for the facility administrator is  lead by the DON. You only get hours as a CNA if you are in with the nurses. Corporate purchased the buildings and flipped it all over to Aristacare without setting the groundwork and foundation. I never left work on time,  days off were tortoure due to constantly getting calls, and texts. No short term disability. Cost of benefits are high! Low morale. Building always had a reason not to take an admission, even after reviewing and approving of the admission prior to then arriving to the building. DON flys off the handle at the smallest miscommunications or misunderstandings. Building as a whole lacks emotional intelligence.

because the facility is constant you are exposed to the same things everyday.

my co-workers are very diverse and are fun to work with. Some goes the extra mile without a frown, while some displays some lack of sensibility to their work.

My management, I can relate to some; some I cannot get of grip of their purpose.

The hardest part of my job is caring for the ones who are not able to respond to anything.  It breaks my heart to see family members come in and cry for their love-ones and tell you what great father and husband they were.

The most enjoyable part of my job is caring for my residents.  I am complimented everyday about the good care I have been given.

This may have been the most hostile management vs. employee company I've ever experienced. You are paid exactly as a salary even though you are hourly. Clocking in and out is irrelevant because the pay will remain consistant even if you stayed an extra 15 minutes. The management is the kind that will post continuous messages by the time clock telling us what we have to do or face the consequences. 
Everyone is out for themselves to get the easiest patient assignment. Supplies to do the job properly are scarce. Supervisors are rude. Basically, the entire shift will be bickering among employees. The night shift will be bickering among employees followed by 3/4 of the building either smoking ciggarettes or sleeping.

A typical day at my job consists of rounding on all of the patients, medication administration, tracheostomy care, wound care, and assisting patients with ADLs. Through the many years I have been at my job, I have learned a great deal. Some of the things I have learned include new medications, computer charting, how to provide proper wound care and emotional support to patients experiencing long term disabilities. My coworkers are team players, who are always willing to assist, especially during emergencies. They are compassionate and hard working. The hardest part about my job is caring for patients with mental disabilities while also guarding my safety. The most enjoyable part of my job is truly seeing the difference my care makes in my patients' lives.

While I worked there it was great. However it's mostly run with agency. The salary is very low for the amount of work that needs to be done .As a result the patients suffer. Many are well to go home yet they keep them there for insurance purposes. They admit psyche patients when it's a geriatric facility. The med errors are horrible and it's very clicky resulting in the termination of very good nurses which is unprofessional. If they would hire charge nurse Registered for the subacute floor it would be more beneficial for the patients. The aides take hour long breaks and there's no discipline because we don't pay. Agency nurses are a tax write off. So sad 

I would rate this company below a 1 if the option was given. I've work there over 25 years no raise, no benefits, no no incentive, no employee appreciation. During peak covid-19 never provided PPP in result I like many other coworkers contracted the Coronavirus. No one check up to see how you were doing if you're alive or died. Also in the very beginning of the pandemic, no meeting or/and communication from management they never showed up to the facility - they all communicated amongst themselves and completely abandoned the building & staff. All communication amongst the staff was provided on a print sheet left by the employee lunch room. Human Resource is terrible, & they're part of the union which doesn't advocate for you.
