If you love people then you will love this job. I am a caretaker for elderly people that require some assistance with their activities of daily living. These clients and thier families wish to have the clients live at home.

Care managers are supposed to follow up with clients and the care takers to assume the best care plan for the client. I don't see that this happens very often but maybe I haven't been here long enough. The care plan folders are never updated and the care plans often are not as well.

I have unknowningly taken on a "per diem" shift. Per diem shifts are difficult if you require an on-going shift with steady pay. I have found it frustrating not having given enough hours and then when they sparatically call you to "fill in" a position its as if you were suppose to wait all day for them to call you to work. Honestly, this is my first per diem shift so maybe I didn't get the clear picture of what that entailed. However it seems as though they do not carry enough clients that are within the time frames that I have left myself open to work (7am-5pm, Tues-Fri, weekends open). It seems as though the right amount of care takers were hired for the amount of shifts they have available before I was hired on, so now it seems as though I am just their back up.

They're only a few departments within the company I would think they all would communicate a little better to have this company run like a well oiled machine. As a caretaker I am taking on the full responsibility for this client, the face of the company livhome and my duties to this client. In my experience the recruitment department, the staffing coordinators and the care managers all fall short of supplying me with the information that would be helpful prior to taking quality care for my clients. So it is often that we as caretakers share our notes with one another to make sure the client is getting the care they need.

Very low pay. Don't agree to work for that company for the money they propose to you, it will be always below market rate. Almost every week employees come to the area director with the same question about salary increase, and he rejects it on every instances. All the management cares about company's bottom line, because of the quarterly bonuses they receive.
They do.not.care.about.people.at.all. No teamwork, no managerial support. They just pile the work at you and never help you out on a difficult case. Not to mention that the office is understaffed, because they like one employee to manage the work for two, and they save big time.
Caregivers constantly call out, and you have on your own to figure out how to staff the client with someone, where every single caregiver rejects to pick up that work. So, you ended up all stressed out throughout the day.
The phone connection is horrible, it breaks every second and you have repeatedly call back again and again. Besides, it is hard to concentrate on the work when the phone is constantly ringing.
The on-call requirement is off the charts. You get calls at 5am in the morning and at midnight. And you have to answer every call. So, no work-life balance at all!
No food in the kitchen, not even water!!! All managers do work from home, so they simply do not care about ones who work at the office. They only buy snacks if Somebody visiting from the other Arosa's locations.
You can't get a sick time out from them. They find every excuse do not pay it to you. Same with the benefits. They promise it to you, but you will receive them in a year, if you're lucky.

I walked through my clients' door every morning/evening with a smile and a upbeat attitude.  Assisted clients with their daily living activities.  I quickly learned that I had to be willing to adjust to changes/new developments on a daily basis. On rare occasions, I would meet another care giver concerning new developments and  management via telephone conversations but most of my interactions/ conversations were with my clients.  The hardest part of my job was watching a terminally ill client die but you learn to push the feeling of helplessness aside because the priority is to be there for them and make them as comfortable as possible while he/she goes through their transition.  In hindsight, that becomes the most enjoyable part of the job. Knowing that you could be there to help, to comfort, encourage them with a smile and and upbeat attitude, share in the childhood memories and form an indescribable bond with your client, their friends and love ones -- is absolutely priceless.

Working for Arosa  wasn't the best. Some of the clients are super nice, there's one or the other client that its difficult to work with. There's a lot of favoritism in this company it is hard to get the hours you deserve and most of the time the hours that were assigned to you get assigned to someone else without letting you know, they send you to work with a client without letting you know the background of the client. If the people from the office don't like you specifically from the inland empire office you will barely get any hours. They treat us like maids. There's no communication with the managers and the caregivers whenever you call the office to get your open visitations approved no one ever answers the phone even if you text them they either never answer or reply super late i wouldn't recommend this company to anyone unless you are trying to get some experience or you just want your time wasted. They also expect you to train people without letting you know and they expect for you to do it. -0/5

This was my first experience in a corporate structure work environment, so there was much to learn from a day to day operational perspective as well as general office politics. While I mastered and was excelling at the operations and team dynamics, I failed at understanding the duplicitous nature of the upper management team. This leadership has only been in place for 2 years, and while they have a unique skill to attract highly motivated and excellent regional directors, the corporate support is entirely lacking, and the systems that they have put in place only serve to hamper and impede ingenuity and creativity. They force a shoe-string budget without transparency which causes confusion and distrust. That being said, I formed excellent professional relationships at this company and I learned a lot that will serve me well in my next position. 

The new company owners are great. New changes new culture. It was a rocky beginning. Certainly not what I expected. The amount of responsibility for the amount of pay is not equal.
Management very lacking.
No one really knew what how things were sopose to run. It felt like some people working there were very resistant to change. Some people the manager role went to their head. They were rood and very hostile at times. 
If new management and more coloborative staff were to be put on place this would be a great place to work. 
The company is self is great to work for.  If the people in the santa Barbara office were not do great to work with. One care manager male was very good. 
Other females staff very rood and hostile. Not welcoming at times.

This company has gone downhill and that is why so many caregivers have left. The benefits are poor to none. They mostly have 4 hour cases and the "policy" is that even though the client is contracted for 4 hours, and that client dismissed you earlier, then the 4 hours. An outside family member that wasn't there can say they don't want to pay you for the 4 hours. The care manager will say anything to get the case, but they never clarify to the client that if they dismisses the caregiver earlier you won't be paid the full 4 hours. 

I worked here over 10 years and this company has 0  loyalty or appreciation for its caregivers. I'm always dismisses earlier from these 4 hour cases but if 1 client puts up a fight that they don't want to pay, then you won't get paid.

When Liv Home First sent me to assist a client, after driving for an hour the wife told me the client died two days ago. They only told me sorry. Something was wrong with that picture.  Two years later i went back to work for them. Bingo!! got a good client. Later, within a few months we would see less and less of the case manager. I began taking care of the medication, making appointments, i mean i did just about everything for this client while Liv home was charging the family $10,000plus a month sometime they would get a bill for $20,000 really and for nothjing accept the care i gave and my salary wasnt that great. Other family members have told me same about their love one.

it's a place that gives the employees to feel free to ask and the teamwork and management is excellent,
in change of shifts the CNAs communicate in a perfect way and it's all about the pt. and their safety.
I love working as a nurse or cna, so I believe there is not any HARD part in my job if you do it with all your heart.
and we have parties (that we call learning parties) in the office which means we get some extra hours learning about a specific topic while we are eating lunch... which is really helpful and enjoyable.
since I got my license in vocational nursing and this company is a non medical company, I should find me another job to be able to use my degree.

I worked for LivHOME for over 8 years. It was a fantastic job and I had many career and financial advancements. I received a tremendous amount of sales training and was outside sales during my duration of employmentI also did exploratory visits for the company, assisted with training and company projects. I also assisted in expanding new territories.
