Where to begin... Broken promises, zero training, and clueless management...  The company always tells its employees that they are part of a family. However, they fail to mention it is a dysfunctional family at best.   Company provided laptops are nothing more than tablets that are not built to handle the workload daily tasks require.   There are at minimum 3-4 meetings weekly that take up valuable time that could be spent working claims. While in meetings the intake department calls constantly 5-6 times when they can clearly see that your in a meeting.   Managers are never available as they are constantly in meetings and trying to hire new employees to fill backfills of their constantly leaving employees.   Managers have no knowledge of the task that the expect their employees to handle. As a result managers are constantly telling their employees to ask other co-workers for assistance.  Promised at time of employment no more than 3-4 claims a day. This is not the case as I regularly get 8-10 claims a day.   Management constantly tells employees that the organization is properly staffed only to turn around a week later and advise that they understand they aren't staffed correctly and are trying to higher.   Due to the companies bad reputation they work to poach adjusters from other companies based upon empty promises that they fail to keep.   Pay does not match the extra hours required to work to be successful at this organization.

If you are looking for a small but growing company - this would be a great place. The company is growing top-line revenue and keeping profitable all while expanding - not an easy task. (We grew from 200 to over 280 people since the beginning of 2020 and we grew revenues by almost 10% in 2020 with a goal of 20%+ growth for 2021.)

This isn't without growing pains, though, and certain parts of the organization feel it more than others. The biggest issue is that learning/training/development is lacking so you have to be independent enough to not only do your job but figure out how to grow your career. It certainly can be done (there are quite a few here that have grown with the company). That's probably the biggest thing. I saw that the company is searching for a Head of HR so hopefully this issue will get addressed soon.

On the plus side, the company took the pandemic pretty seriously and regular "day-to-day" HR stuff gets addressed in a timely manner. Additionally, the people are great and while we are all still remote, there are still activities we do together like a Saturday race/walk, in-office golfing tournament (for those who want to come in), etc. Internal communication is also pretty good. Finally, but not least, pay is pretty much market rate but we happen to have great benefits. I can't overstate that enough.

Overall, great place to work but be patient with the career development side.

Typical day was inclusive of multi-tasking phone calls to current and new claims, responding to emails, and working towards resolution of bodily injury claims and property damage. I develop more tools for injury evaluation and presentation. The more objective numbers that can be associated to an injury the stronger base you have to work from and make the negotiation process easier to resolution. Management was present, but not overly involved in development, it was more of a crisis management versus leadership role. 
I really enjoyed my interactions with my co-workers. We all were available to offer opinions or suggestions on any difficult situations and work as a team to resolve any problems. The hardest part of the job was volume of claims. I routinely took between 90-110 features per month, inclusive of property damage and rental. The call volume and letters required to maintain file accuracy was a balancing act that require prioritization of tasks to accomplish goals. I enjoyed the engagement of the position, there was no down time and always at the task of the job.

A typical day began with revewing caseload which consists of non-complexed coverage and liability exposures. I was able to sharpen my negogitation and communication skills while obtaining proper information in order to proceed properly with liability and damages.

The work environment was made positive by my peers/co-workers who are great people. Because we not always have proper training, we helped each other without hesitatation and assisted one another with any questions we had.

The hardest part of the job was having to deal with inconsistencies among management, where one would require a certain way of doing things and another would not which only caused discrepancies or inconsistencies in our performamce.

We do however, have the option of teleworking which not all companies offer. This is a privilege that was enjoyed by most, if not all employees who met the conditions to do so.

My work day would start anytime from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. They were very flexible as to when I started as long as I completed an 8 hour work day. I would typically start between 7 and 8 depending on traffic. 

I learned How to better the quality of work I turned in through positive feedback and coaching. 

It was a small office of about 40 people all with diverse backgrounds. I became better at understanding my co workers and how people who work in a close environment should learn to understand and respect one another.

The most difficult part of the job was maintaining an equal work life balance. I often found myself working after hours and weekends to meet my goals an quotas.

I worked with wonderful people who were always supporting 
and understanding.

I would not ever recommend this place to anyone, the customer base is so uneducated and ignorant. the management is terrible and micromanage everything. the stress of Intake is too much and the adjusters we work with does not ever answer the phone to assist so here in the intake dept. we are the company's punching bag. to get yelled and cursed at all day and feel like you don't make enough to survive is so sad... things should change for everything because since I have been here a lot of people have quit and seem to be doing a lot better and much happier than when they were here....I started working here because my old job there was no growth and I just cam here to deal with the same thing..NO GROWTH and horrible customer base

I will say the environment is laid back but that is not enough to keep your employees happy

I started working at AA last year in the claims department. I started  out with less than $16 although I have ample experience to fulfill the job requirements. After being hired I was trained for literally a few days then put on the phones and basically expected to know the system like the back of my hand. Moreover, I was advised that the company only pays for 7.5 hours per day with 1 hour lunch.  If you wanted a full 8 hours shift you would have to take a 30 minutes lunch break. In addition if we have a holiday you will only be compensated for 7.5 hours. The company has the basic politics as any other company for less pay.

When I first started working here I was convinced this would be the company that I would retire from. Great coworkers and a company that truly cared about its employees and wanted everyone to succeed, they are very invested in promoting from within. Things have changed over the last year and the feeling of security has certainly changed. There is a lot of turnover and the company is always behind the 8 ball in hiring, it’s always the adjusters who absorb the additional work with management doing very little to soften the blow. The expectations don’t change even when you’re doing the work of 3 people. Hopefully things will get better so work/life balance can be maintained.

I was at Assurance America for over a year. What I can say is that it won't be the best company you work for but it won't be the worst either. It's hard to get promoted, though, even if you are qualified. I'm not speaking about me. While I was there, there were quite a few people that would've excelled in higher positions. Very few of them, if any, were promoted. That's really the main issue that I had there. Other than that, my colleagues were really nice. My immediate supervisors taught me a lot. My manager was the main reason for people not to be promoted though.

I moved from another city to work there and quit my job at a reputable Fortune 500 company due to being lured by higher pay. My work quality was great and I received excellent reviews from management on my work. The next thing I know, the AVP quits suddenly and then I see my coworkers being escorted out one by one over the next few days. Then it was my turn right before Christmas. They tried to avoid paying me unemployment by making up some lies about me, but the state investigated and ruled in my favor. Stay away from these crooks and go elsewhere.
