I thoroughly enjoy working with my colleagues for a company that I feel truly does have the best interests of their patients at heart. The CEO is a truly exception visionary, the physicians are dedicated and the support staff more than earns their pay. Because of this good, supportive environment, many employees stick around for 20 or 30 years.

The best part of my job is working with my coworkers, all of whom are supportive and dedicated to the best interests of the patients and the company. The hardest part of the job is always figuring out how to do more with less while not seeing any room for advancement in my future.

Despite all of these good things, the pay tends to remain below the market and there are few opportunities for advancement due to the long tenure of employees in upper management positions. There are a few employees that work their way up, some based on merit and others based on favoritism. With very few exceptions, the only way for advancement in title or pay is to manage others. There is little recognition (and never bonuses!) for individual contributors, regardless of their experience, performance, or expertise.

The company rarely advocates for the employees, so expect to always negotiate for a better salary and ask for more responsibilities and promotions. The salary structure, benefits, and many other compensation policies are not transparent, nor are they disclosed to employees. I learned the hard way that I should always assume a better offer is on the table, no matter what the initial conversation is like. Supervisors, managers, and directors all earn bonuses at dramatically different rates (good luck figuring out what those are) and "team lead" positions are often a dead-end alternative with much less pay than a supervisory role.

The work schedule was nice as it provided balance, the location is nice, they have a café, beautiful building, and a nice walk around the building for people who like walking. However in this particular position as a RC1, you're pretty much the black sheep of the office. The phone calls are literally back to back, all day long. The referral department is pretty much the dumping grounds for the rest of ARC. So in turn you kind of are not only a referral coordinator but an operator, the information desk, medical records, random questions, nurse line, and the get your rocks off line. Some of the workers there are awesome, but everyone is for themselves for the most part. It doesn't feel like the office works as a team, but more so who can step on who's head to get where. Instead of your leads coming to you to say, "Hey you did this wrong, this is how you do it." They take it straight to the higher ups. Then once you take it to the supervisor, he forwards the entire email to the person you are complaining about basically letting them know, you are the one reporting them. I recommend this work environment for older age people. I mean there is literally no personality in the work place AT ALL, and it doesn't help that they work with all the lights off because the older ladies get headaches in the office, if you are not a seasoned employee your vote doesn't matter, however they do give you get a small desk lamp. Makes it difficult to stay awake, be alert, energetic it truly makes the job draining.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I liked the people I worked with along with my normal AIX/TSM duties & flexible hours, however we were spread fairly thin,  often losing PTO at the end of the year.   One frustration was getting much needed I.T. hardware in (i.e. new servers; updating our network infrastructure to take advantage of high-end NICs, getting higher end backup hardware to accommodate data growth)   often we repurpose Servers past their EOL.   

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being a small I.T. Staff, we wore many hats - it was was hard to have coverage, Mgmt.  It's hard to expect someone to cover for another Sys Admin when spread so thin, also getting new hardware in was a chore.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I was a one off Sys- Admin, being the lone UNIX & TSM admin I often worked my own hours, came in super early & could leave early but also worked weekends often to handle the backup schedules - but it worked for me.

Toxic environment, if you aren’t the favorite well then just move on. You will get screwed over by the business office, office supervisors and management, HR, the benefits office, and payroll. It’s a large company but once COVID hit they went down hill fast! Patient care is lacking and you have to have an appointment for every little thing. They are very money driven and not patient driven at all, it’s actually very sad! They push doctors to see patients every 10 minutes which lacks patients care majorly. 
Every business office staff, MA, LVN, and RN I met were unhappy with their job. Only people that were somewhat happy were those in higher up positions or those being promoted (which always seemed to be the not obvious choice but the favorited ones). 

The company was great, They have good benefits and compared to others in the area have decent pay. However watch which location you work in. A lot of backstabbing and sabotaging behind closed door. Make sure you mind your P's and Q's cause they will be quick to cover for some people and throw others under the bus. The CEO is great guy, HR is oblivious to what goes on in the clinics unless it directly affects them. Management is awful in some locations, they are all about them and the only time they have something to say is when they are pointing out mistakes. They promote people which clearly should not be promoted strictly because they know that person. I can tell you not all locations are the same because I had the pleasure of also working in an awesome one. I will advice that if you have an issue with something or someone, either take it directly to HR or if you don't hear anything back from them within a week, call them directly cause most likely they weren't even made aware of the issue.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Always opportunities for advancement, amazing high level leaders, strong work standards, doctors, management, and clinical team. A lot of retention in this company, I’ve worked 19 years with ARC and have had many different roles. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
How much the company has grown and changed over the years. Still has great leadership and top Executives who genuinely seem to care and make best decisions for all, it’s necessary change but a little stressful at times

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Professional, diverse, inclusive, respectful, kind, and encouraging. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I now work PRN at home so I give direct patient care over the phone. I have minimal  contact with the clinical teams, providers, and management. I just help the patient on the line and move to the next call. It is rewarding and low stress.

I really enjoyed the multiple roles that were given to me at ARC. Everyone was very interested in new ideas and I was allowed to make the changes in my role.

The co workers and management staff were fantastic!.. Very good group to work with..I'm still friends with many of the employees at all the sites.

The hardest part of the job was trying to keep up with the financial roles that were given to me i.e. spreadsheets which consisted of micro/macros. This should have been given to other staff that the report involved however I felt great that my manager wanted me to take care of it.

My typical day was purchasing and keeping up with all the issues for all the sites along with over seeing Central Supply.

I enjoyed working with the CFO he was amazing and I was taught so many things by him. He is and was the smartest man and could invision many opportunties for ARC. I believe the growth and strength that ARC has is because of him.

The After Hours teams are truly amazing to work with.  Management genuinely cares for employees & is very supportive both personally & professionally.  They are amazingly skilled at choosing the best candidates to hire & have a knack for bringing out the best in each of us.  One reason I love working in the after hours dept is that we operate like an urgent care team & you never know what will come through the doors.  It is fast paced & exciting!  We treat a wide range of illnesses & injuries.  This environment gives each of us so much opportunity for learning new skills.  Through it all management is not afraid to get down in the trenches with their team.  ARC shows great appreciation for their staff, conducts a week of employee appreciation annually & showers us with gifts & goodies.  During especially tough days they will surprise us with lunch or dinner.  They are very flexible & understand the concept of having a healthy work/life balance.  There is no better team to work for!

As a patient coordinator the main job was to check in patients for their scheduled appointment and verify demographic information.  I have learned that you must have patience, be a good listener and understand their underlying concerns because it was not always presented at the forefront to help them with their needs.  Management was always there when you needed them especially when an unexpected problem arose and they did not micromanage which provided me a sense of trust of my abilities. The hardest part of my job was my schedule because I worked every weekend but with management aware of my work schedule, they did always try to accommodate my days off if I needed it during that time.  The employees were always wonderful to work with which made the day go by easier and always willing to cover you if an unexpected situation occurred.

This position was the classic in-patient/out-patient internal medicine practice in a large, multi-specialty group.
The on-call demands were frequent and rigorous. This component of the experience was high stress, physically demanding work.
The out-patient experience was enjoyable and of medium intensity. These patients were generally pleasant to work with, well-educated and with moderate medical morbidity.
Management was often autocratic, but mostly quite capable in a business sense. I felt like physician well-being was a secondary concern. But, business survival was uncertain in that market (in those days), so hardworking, uncomplaining physicians were required.
The years spent there allowed me to hone physician-patient relationship skills and gave me invaluable experience in dealing with tough clinical situations and difficult physician-physician relationships.
